[Merged] The Po Discussion

Well you are welcome to your opinion, as with all the other complaints you bring to the forums on a regular basis. The poo is in and in varied forms, so I hope you can mod

 

Nonsense. You ever see the warioware games? Tons of poop, and they're rated E, maybe E10+.

 

I hope it has its own poop biome with poop water and poop trees, it'd be amusing to hear people complain if that's the planet they started on.

 

Wouldn't surprise me considering GeorgeV thought including a shit themed monster would be a good idea in the first place.

(Only half serious here. Truth be told the monster really isn't a deal breaker for me but I'm going to mod it out as soon as I am able.)

 

No point in letting the devs know how much I love everything I don't complain about. The reason complaints are my most prevalent posts is because they're generally the things I want changed. With varying degrees of desire mind you, its not as if every one of my complaints are made with the same degree of dissatisfaction.

 

Why are people so angry? You'll see it for a few minutes when you go to a sewer

 

All this is making me wonder what the chances of finding the sewer dungeon this thing is even confined to even are. Should be easy enough to avoid until a modder dummies it out or replaces it's art assets or something.

I don't want to derail the thread but would like to point out. They are VERY random in how they rate things as sometimes things slip by. Sometime they don't.
Search ChronoTrigger on the ersb website. Past times it got an E, now it is a T for teen game. This has happened with Earthbound and many games, where a first glance they said it was fine but with a deeper look changed the rating.

Maybe Starbound -if- it has to apply for a Vita release will slip by, maybe it wont. I'm just saying it may be factor in with what they rate the game if it gets rated.
How much, is anyones guess.

Po monsters, i dont know. It was "in", 20 years ago, yeah. With things like the SNES and NES and some older games of the 90´s. But today i don´t know... and even since the movie Dogma i didnt see anymore po like creatures ever reappeared in any trash or horror-comedy movies. Personal, i dont think it fits. But thats just my personal feelings. A different time now.

I dont think it will have a rating issue because of this, but you never know. If it looks like po and you call it even po than it could be to mutch for them. I thing japanese comics just do pink po monsters and dont call them po, but everybody know what it is xD

Yeah, going to go off topic and just add to that. I remember reading a feature in some magazine how "grabbed by the ghoulies" had several mature jokes but managed to get a low ESRB because they either required a knowledge of British culture or a dirty mind to spot.

If po was a ratings breaker for the Vita, they would likely (regrettably) just have to remove it from the vita version or reskin it to a slime or something.

To be honest for a second, it is a little off-putting. The sheer number of things "Po" could refer to out of the context of "cutesy, slightly anthropomorphic excrement from our game" is probably reason enough not to have it in the game.

Sorry Devs, while toilet humor has its place, but this particular bit seems a bit at odds with what you've revealed of Starbound so far, excepting that visually it's inline with the rest of the game. This isn't an attack you, just a disagreement with your decision to include it.

 

This entire thread has been very interesting to me. A majority of the votes are either in favor of The Po or are indifferent and don't care either way, where the minority are those that are opposed to it. If I hadn't looked at the results prior to reading these responses, I'd have guessed the votes for and opposed to be neck and neck with probably a slight edge going to those being against it. Not sure why, but I just find that to be quite intriguing.
