I think about this every time I find a crap weapon I have no intention of keeping. If I could recycle it into a small amount of materials like metal bars, that would be awesome.
Sorry, didn't see your post before mine, we just came up with it when we were talking about how shitty inventory management is right now.
Perhaps we could put items, particularly metal ones like weapons, into the refinery for a number of pixels. For wooden objects, to get a use out of unused ones, maybe we could cook them in the furnace to get some coal. If not that, any item could be refined into some amount of pixels. (Though, I find the utilitarianism of using a chair for fuel really appealing.)
Or maybe we can konvert unwanted weapons to junk blocks then the junk blocks can be converted to different kinds of metals depending on how many junk blocks you have.
I had suggested something similar in my rant / feedback thread. Here's the exert of it... " Recycling is the Future! - Currently, tossing items into the inventories trash is a good way to free up inventory and that is it. I think we should get some pixels for at least some of the stuff we trash. Not dirt blocks or anything, but if I trash weapons and things toss me a couple pixels. I know we'll eventually be able to sell items and things to merchants and that's fine. Make merchants understandably give much better prices. Alternatively, make the trashing of items turn them into something useful... maybe turn items you trash into a piece of "recycled goo". Each item you trash becomes 1 more piece of it. Then let us be able to use that as ship fuel or substitute for some recipes like making torches with it instead of coal. Honestly, there isn't anything wrong with it just discarding the items... I just like the thought of it having a purpose of some kind. Heck even adding a recycling apparatus similar to the current refinery would be neat. Recycling is totally a step closer to sci-fi... just trashing things is primitive. Just a thought. "
Agreed. The some kind of grinder what can recycle trash to the pixels (or something else) will be apropos.
