Race Meet The Realistic

Your fan-made races probably won't make it into the game. I'd advise you to start looking for some people with programming, spriting, advertisement, writing, and game design knowledge.​

I'm not saying it WON'T happen, dreams do come true! But at this point in development, Your races with custom bodies, that are completely different from the other 7 bodies (Apex, Floran, Human, Glitch, Hylotl, Avian, and Nova-kid) have little chance of getting in the game, as that'd mean they'd have to redesign nearly all the armor/costumes​

that they have created so far.​

Furthermore, you have to be careful when it comes down to your lore. Alot of the lore I read on these random race ideas seems to conflict with existing lore, or is insanely unbalanced/ stupid in every way.​

Example Made by Me: The Shota-Lolis are a race of inter-galactic cat people responsible for creating the glitch. They have gone into hiding in the caves of "Super Marluigi Nova Starland" to evade their own evil creations. They can see in the dark like it's day, and can swim in lava to evade their foes. They're also the only race to have invented a successful Aqua Nuke"​

If you thought the "Shota-Loli" was a good race, and needed to be put in the game based on the information above, then my advice to you would be to keep snuffing that powder.​

So, body shapes and bad lore will probably get your custom race not added, but what if I surpassed expectations in these two categories, then do I get in the game?​

However, if you're really desperate, i'd advise creating complete body models for your custom race, along with hairstyles/head mods/ whatever side decoration you want, colors for each, a complete animation set showcasing everything from the character creator on the forums, and then throw in a little bribery.​

Your dreams may come true!​

Adding a new race can be quite time consuming, so the more work you pull off their shoulders, the better.​

But even if you do ALL of this, you probably won't get your custom race in, so, again, look for a good modding group.​

This is all true. So, you should all go tell the devs how you want the Zaahir added. They're lore-friendly and sprite compatible. Clearly the best choice.

Amazing post. I do find that a few of the fan-made races have a few Mary Due qualities. Love the name of your example race, by the way.

I gotta agree with commrade DJOkamical, many submitted races either cardinally differ from vanilla ones, or, well, have their apeareance either overlapping with present ones or just contrast with their own lore.

Another bad thing is overreliance on lore. People expect making up alphabet, callendar and silly history will help their game get approved, but rather that just transforms the race into their personal RP toy. Look at the approved Novakids race's description! Physical properties, personality, stuff like that. All the stuff a person who wants to roleplay that race needs (if you are not going to roleplay, you obviously jsut pick the more cool looking or practical race) is given, no need to add al lthat gratutious nonsence!

 

I think your example is rather exaggerated. But I agree that the sprites should at least use a humanoid base.

 

Trust me, I've read some REALLY bad lores.

It's implied that something in the Suggestions sub-forum is a suggestion, and if you couldn't figure that out you're probably to dense to even know how to work a forum in the first place so it doesn't matter.
And I've been here sense 2012 and I haven't seen one person say, "Why isn't my suggestion in-game yet?"
