Race Meet the Parfelians

I love cats so much, and I like steampunk too, but I think the Novakid will have a steampunk flair to them, and we already have two mammal races. All of these races are very cool though. If only we could have all of them without delaying other projects (or the initial release for that matter).

 

I think you're confused. Wild west only crosses into steampunk territory when it comes to trains. Traditional steampunk uses steam to power impossible and overcomplicated gadgets, generally comprised of brass and clockwork. Wild west gunslinging and drifting does not coincide with this. There also isn't much room for high victorian fashion when it comes to the wild west prospector flavor of clothing that the novakids will be wearing.

 

Here, let me illustrate the problem, with a side by side comparison versus a Glitch, as well as a Glitch with a Parfelian head and a Parfelian with a Glitch head. In this example I will use a 'brained' Glitch to make the contrast between the two a bit greater.


While I admire the work done to create the sprite, in my opinion (at this scale) they similarity between them and the Glitch becomes too great.

Not certain of a good suggestion to fix the problem. Pushing the head down into the torso does not provide greater room and expanding the total size of the head is not really workable... as presumably all sprites for new races need to conform to a set standard to be included.

 

Sigh, I'm going to clear this up again, this suggestion was made [December 9] well before the introduction of the Glitch race [February 13], and I've been working on this suggestion [Started on July 13 when the first Cat Mech monster showed up, but further developed when the second Cat Mech monster showed up, which was August 24] way before the images of robots appearing started [November 15], not to mention way before they even thought of adding a robot race [October 14].

So really, I don't think it's fair for me if you compare the Glitch and the Parfelians.

 

Don't worry, Tiy has mentioned that the extra races they might add will in no way delay work. He said that they're gonna hire a separate spriter.

Sillyness aside. This race idea is phenomenal and completely in sync with what I was thinking of earlier this day.

 

I'd love to see the cat have a rear-view mirror with a ball of yarn hanging from it. (Like those scented pine fresheners)

Even if it isn't officially added to the game, I hope that there will be an effort to add them in as a mod. I wonder what they're special ability will be though, I only skimmed the topic so far.

 

Someone will probably mod them in or an equivalent. I do think that if they get in as they are it'd be awesome though.

The new OP looks really nice as well as unique. Also i love their reactions to some of the other races i give it 9/10 because i believe there is always room for improvement (though i dnt know what could be improved)

 

Yes, the new op looks like it outdoes all the other requests to the point it makes me think this HAS to be a stretch goal.

Humans have no lore information yet and the Starbound-Novakid lore is still in progress. Besides, Considering Starbound-Novakid is half-anodyne, they would probably treat it like an anodyne.

 

And what about the shiny, shiny Gemétoile ?
