Oh, a question for all the people helping me out with the idea. Do you think it'd be safe to drop the 50s modifier from their description? I was browsing google images and all the depictions of the mobsters fall pretty close in line. It'd keep the idea more streamlined and all if I just put 20. Thoughts?
Especially considering the characters are only 32 pixels tall, which means the bubbles are only 1x1, which means they may as well be acne. With the limitations we have, it's no wonder that most of the current races are very simple in design (except the Glitch, who are rather well-greebled).
Oh man, these whoop the butt, support man, I think It is slime pun time MAFIA/SLIME pun time Group Puns: La Mucosa Nostra (la cosa nostra, mucosa AKA snot) Armor puns: Mucxido (muck tuxido) Carcino Overcoat (cancerous chicago overcoat)
Well, they wouldn't have to be on the sprites. It's artistic depiction of them. Not everyone draws ooze the same way.
Also, weapon sprites! Forgot to get these uploaded. Thanks to whoever made them. I like all the drums on them.
Now here's a race with a lot of potential, although I do have a few suggestions and questions for this race: Perhaps they could instead be born on a more carbon-rich planet? On a National Geographic documentary on alien worlds, one hypothetical world that was mentioned is a so-called carbon planet, which is more likely to form closer to the core of a galaxy, where there's more carbon than oxygen (as opposed to more oxygen than carbon around our corner of the galaxy). Here's a video of such a planet: How do they handle cuts and bruises as amorphous oil-blobs? For example, when a Novakid gets hurt, plasma bleeds out of the wound, which can be fatal for the Novakid if left untreated. Do Oscura bleed out oil when cut? Other than that, this has great potential as a race. Very creative, with a very distinct dieselpunk theme.
Well, it was rich in carbon too. Hence all the oil that was found on the planet. All the planet life (rich in carbon) rose up because there was plenty of oxygen that allowed them to grow quite large. The lush jungle life dies and decays over time, leading to deposits of oil; so and and so forth. There is plenty of carbon, hence why their economy became so heavily dependent upon diesel and coal to begin with. Now there's a lot more carbon in the atmosphere as well. Centuries of constant aerial pollution does that to a planet. Small cuts wouldn't really be too huge a problem. Larger injuries start to disrupt their mass. For example, a large injury to their leg could cause it to become disconnected and essentially collapse into a puddle on the ground. Fatal injuries could disrupt their entire body's mass, essentially causing them to meltdown. They would bleed, to an extent, as the dislocated oil falls off. Some extra mass would be lost as area tries to stabilize. Thanks for the compliments. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I love answering them. By the way, thanks for the video too. Was quite interesting.
Okay, got an updated list of weapons. This time with a rocket launcher, as well as the smaller version of their sprites. Just want to say thanks to Sabre for designing these.
