Eh, this is pretty much a generic bipedal dragon race; there's nothing really "spacey" about it, as it's pretty much someone's fursona. Sounds like a better idea through a mod.
But the thing is, the developers already put in the Avians. The Drale are too generic in appearance ("Bipedal/Anthro Dragon" on furaffinity yields a bunch of identical designs akin to yours), and most likely belong in a world similar to a one-planet Fallout (since your storyline mirrors Fallout's closely with the world being ravaged) rather than a space exploration game. Storyline is okay, but the whole idea of "bipedal dragons" is overdone and mundane to the extreme. If thrown out and redone, it would yield something really worth voting for in suggestions.
Why is unoriginality such a problem? I don't get it; yeah, so it appears in some other places in a similar way, that doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. It seems like a lot of people's reasons here at the Starbound forums for disliking a race is because it isn't original enough, but that doesn't seem like a very good reason.
That doesn't mean they wouldn't add more bipedal(insert-animal-here) races, seeing that they have around three. I'm pretty sure the devs are more likely to use bipedal anything for the matter. And a few of the official races are already pretty "generic" That said, a world filled with Aztec birds doesn't seem very fit for space exploration, nor one with plant people. (But they're in anyways) Thanks, but I think you're forgetting how much time and effort I put into this. -->Removing first image to reduce the chances of people going "AHH SCALIE, BAD IDEA" within the first few seconds of seeing OP I will replace with pleasing pixel art sometime later.
In defence of the whole "CURRY!1!" Do remember that everyone is restricted and required to fit the human sprite sheet in order to fit all the armor types in game. appearances will always end up human-like. The game art even looks much different than the in game sprites. (http://playstarbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/bietolwall-1920x1080.jpg) I'm guessing that most people making suggestions try to make the art as much like the in game sprite as possible. PS. I possibly have no idea what I'm talking about since I don't view that kind of art I'm taking a guess as to what it is.
Look, you can put millions of hours into something, but that doesn't guarantee absolute perfection. In my purview, I'm not a fan, but you may have others who dig it. And as I said time and time again, I don't like it just because it has scalies; I don't like it for their design and Fallout-esque storyline. Keep working on it
I like it, that's why I post thoughts and ideas about it. This is partially because the spriting for the race is damn good, and also because I think it has potential to be a really interesting race. One of the reasons i'm pushing for an antigravity theme in their mid-late game tech, I think that them only being post-apocalyptic would be kinda depressing and not quite fitting for a spacefaring race. I wouldn't call Fallout's story very creative or original either. There's been dozens of various post-apocalypse stories throughout history, i'd say most religions had one, it's come very near several times in our history, it's happened 8 or so times in Earth's history, and there have been countless others. Here's a list from wikipedia. People have been talking about the end of the world since the dawn of man. It's a genre in and of itself.
My goodness... This is one of the best posts I have ever seen! And one of the best looking race ideas I have ever seen, Why has it only got 8 votes up?! (9 including my vote ) Also I love the back story behind them; it could make an epic movie
This is good fun from what I've seen so far! The variety in character designs seems fun enough to be able to make something I can identify better with.
Hmm, it's probably the extra detail such as the divots, bolts and wires. I tried to make them look derelict.
Wait do they have a mech kinda vehicle, Maybe a gunship with side engines and war paint. It's something to look into.
