Thanks, although while most Felix aren't indeed very interested in Cerpine weaponry, they would certainly be interested in other Cerpine technologies. For example, Cerpine-produced mecha that are designed for non-military work, such as construction work or rescue operations, could give Felix mecha-producing companies a run for their money (kind of like American automobile companies, like Ford, competing with Japanese automobile companies, like Hyundai). (I forgot to state the Felix's view of Cerpine robotics and mecha.)
Added tier 1 Cerpine Armor! Now, I'm in need of some help. The Cerpine head, while it fits within the typical head outline, doesn't cover every space on a typical human head, or any other head. This may make it so that the Cerpine can't be used in-game. Though I try, I cannot get it to look right without making it huge. If anyone has any artistic skills, and thinks they can do this, I would greatly appreciate it. I would even draw something special for you. If you would like to try, just take these sprites here and make it so that the Cerpine head fits EXACTLY over the human head. Eyes should also be in the same place. SPRITES:
I appreciate the effort, but it doesn't look right. The head is too round, making it look like a worm, and it looks like he's in a really awkward position. Thank you anyway.
Well, can't say I didn't try. Not sure how you're going to do it, but most likely you have to coil the snake head or add some padding in the form of headgear.
Neat, though i'm only just seeing these right now and I need to mow the lawn before it consumes my dog. So it'll be a bit So ta-da! The one on the left is just a hair style so I can be a cobra, wargle blarble! Which is of course the battlecry of cobras.
I took Freshsheet's sprite and added Pigrocket's belly. I think this looks like the best one. Let me know if you like it, and if you do, which eye type you like. As for future customization options, I'm adding cobra hoods, spines, different shaped heads, more patterns, belly color will vary on skin color, eye color, etc. Oh, and I'm drawing something for every person who made me a sprite, whether it helped or not.
Their heads are still kinda oddly round, but either way snake's have small circular eyes so the long eyes seem very off and not snakey. Actually the long eyes remind me of grumpy iguanas
i never looked at this thread before today. my god, it's so fleshed out. i'd be surprised if it wasn't added in after release. i'd bet if novakid wasn't picked for the 500k goal, this would have been.
I don't think the devs have seen this thread. The don't come to the forums often, apart from molly, and I don't think she looks at the suggestions forum that much. Though, fetalstar has been here a few times, though that may just be due to IRC activity.
Some of the Cerpine Head Styles! Not as plentiful as other races, but a race can't have everything. Spikes just didn't fit them, as did head shapes other than hoods. If you have any other ideas, let me know.
I want to add separate tails, but I don't even know if tails are a possibility yet, or how they work.
I like the design, but the idea of a race developing advanced technology and tool use without any proper limbs to manipulate things with just seems too hard to swallow. What I'd honestly like to see is for the Cerpine, the Parfelians, and various other "helpless critter in a robo-suit" races gathered together under a single blanket category, possibly as NPCs due to the broader range of designs this would mean, as "The Uplifted/Ascended"...essentially, species that were granted sentience and technology by some ancient race as an experiment. That would be more plausible, in my personal opinion.
They didn't develop it alone. Wreckage from a large space battle crashed on their planet. Until that point, they only had simple bronze-age tech.
