An incredible amount of thought and energy went into this. I applaud the effort! And those are some extremely nice images and animations.
Oh, they are smiling so much xd. Darthkit, can you add those new things to your first post, to have all info in one place?
Annnnd... Revamped thread! I will gladly answer any and all questions, and feel free to provide feedback.
All the dungeons. Also I have a terrible memory so help me out on this one, where are villages for I much desire to see them.
I'm hesitant to do villages and blocks since not much is known about them. Once get my hands on the game, I shall do an in-depth article on villages. Until then, I suppose I can tell you a little about them. The villages of Cerpine are like the other races, but they tend to be shaped differently. Often times, the buildings are made of brown or tan metal, or they are made of stone. They're well decorated on the inside, and they lack triangular roofs. Similar to the way slums work in larger cities, the buildings often are packed close together, and intersect with one another. Cerpine merchants will sell you Cerpine-related items, while engineers will deal with technology and repairs. They're most common in desert planets, but will often appear on any planet besides snow and ocean. As for dungeons, the water mine, (name pending!) is often converted to an aqueduct or a fort, depending on the water supply. On planets with plenty of water, the mine is more for finding ores and minerals, but water is still obtained. Water will flow in stone gutters on the sides of the tunnels, and pumps will take collected water to the surface. As for the Basilisk, while it excels in taking out ground forces, it doesn't do as well in space or in the air. For this, it has a group of smaller fighter planes, which distract the opponent while it uses it's cannons, missiles and main laser. The laser has been acknowledged as one of the most devastating weapons of any ship. Many races live in fear of it incinerating their homes and loved ones.
AFAIK, there are four or five variants of each type of block, and then there are four or five additional layers that add details to those blocks (like glyphs, cracks, divots). I'm currently working on blocks but I'm ignoring the layers of details and just focusing on the base blocks. IMO what really make it difficult is that it is hard to show the blocks being used in a setting, such as outdoors, because it is hard to tell exactly where one dirt block ends and the next begins (because of the detail layering being so amazing). Seriously, for a game that uses 8x8 tiles, this is going to be so beautiful. BTW the Avians already have a lamp like that, as shown in one of the blog posts. Do you mind if I borrow your chairs and poufs for the image I'm working on? I'll give credit of course.
Not only that, but different races have different varients of the same block. I don't know which blocks this applies to, though, and the whole merging of blocks is difficult to do. Just so that I don't have to redo the whole thing, I'm going to wait on blocks. I did not know the avains had a lamp like that, it confuses me that they woul have an arabian lamp when they are based off of South American culture. And yes, you may borrow the chairs and stuff.
Yep. I was confused about it as well. Of course, oil lamps in general were found all over the world, and were used as far back as 10'000 BC (the stone age) and were made of crudely carved stone or shells. However, that particular design was distinctly Indian, and metal oil lamps were not used at all in South America AFAIK.
I wonder what the Cerpine's opinion on the Felix (and possibly the Felix's ancestors and enemies, the Panth'rans) is? I've recently finished adding the Felix's opinion on the Cerpine. By the way, these guys are so cute. I'd just want to do some sprites of them.
You may want to divide up the races / non-sentient species into separate subsections for organization, Darth. Just a personal preference, since it looks like the non-sentient species are actual races.
