Alchemy in Starbound could be useful in many ways. It could help heal you, it could provide buffs / de-buffs. Maybe it could even transform metals into other metals. The alchemy station would look like a small table with some bottles of liquids on it. - Crafting - Alchemy Station - 50 Wood Blocks, 10 Glass, and 5 Iron Bars. Syringe - 3 Glass. Wooden Bowl - 5 Wood. - Usage - Its like a crafting table, but, y'know... it makes... stuff... - Stim Packs - Red Stim Pack - Syringe, Chili Pepper, Red Apple, and a Mushroom. Green Stim Pack - Syringe, Kiwi, Green Apple, and a Mushroom. Blue Stim Pack - Syringe, Aculemon, Sugar, and a Mushroom. Yellow Stim Pack - Syringe, Corn, Carrot, and a Mushroom. - Herbs - Herbs can be found on all planets. The higher the threat level of the planet is, the better herbs there are to collect. Rarer herbs can be used to create powerful healing items. There would be 10 tiers of herbs for the 10 threat levels. Herbal Broth Tier 1-10 - Wooden Bowl, Mushroom, Any tier of herb, Carrot, Chili Pepper. Heals 10 - 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 - 60 - 70 - 80 - 90 - 100
And for the people who don't want 'magic' allow an identical crafting station that makes stim packs from the same ingredients (or replace the bottle with an equivalent item that costs the same to craft perhaps called a hypospray (or to avoid copyright a 'jet injector'))
looks a bit to minecraft'ish. there is no need for slots. you can just stay with the crafting lists and the game tells you on mouse-over what materials are needed. but i would also like to see that the fruits are not just used for cooking only. the automato fruit is a perfect material for crafting granades. p.s.: no potions, please. potions are to much fantasy-style. stim-packs are just the way to go for sci-fi.
I actually am going to change that, because 1. This would be a Terraria copy. 2. Putting in specific ingredients is annoying and hard to remember what's for what. and 3. Although this may go with the Glitch race, Stim Packs are better because of the Sci-Fi theme.
Potions are not fantasy? We use them today in the forms of cough syrup, tea, and drugs. They don't look like stereotypical potions, but they are technically "potions".
if i'm thinking of someone boosting up for or during combat in a sci-fi universe i'm not thinking of someone uncork a potion.
An idea could be to have a medic station or vaccine synthesizer in place of an Alchemy station. Medic station for bandages and healing, and vaccine synthesizer for stim packs and other buffs that need to be added to the game. Some may think im crazy but i miss gather herbs and growing them from terraria to make potions, I wish there was some element like that for crafting bandages and stim packs
That would be cool, I like going out and collecting stuff to make things. Its oddly fun. Maybe they could add some real life herbs used in medicines today. They could add herbal broths and stuff too.
Yes, that would be awesome! Just farming food, is very unrewarding, but if you could farm herbs and make powerful medicine, and even sell them to venders, it would make the game have a much more rewarding non combat progression, the more dangerous the planet the powerful the herb.
Yeah, I mean, its nice to have a study supply of food and all, but when you can farm stuff that can heal you a lot and not just give you more hunger, it really makes you want to search for it. If the planets have rarer and more powerful stuff on them, you would have to strive to collect that stuff. It would give players even more to do.
