Mechs / Cars?

    Hello again, my fellow travelers!

I decided to turn on some music and play some Starbound, when I realized, that with the new update, the mechs / cars that were previously accessable through finding their tech must now be removed. I don't know if I am wrong on this, but since all you find now (as far as I've seen) are blank tech cards to access the techs that you get from S.A.I.L.

I really wish that they are still there, and if not, that they will be there in the future. It was super cool running around with big mechs just shooting everything!

Also, if they are indeed inaccessable at this point, and the devs are working on them for a later date, I'd love it if you could upgrade them, or if they scaled with the area you're in or something like that. I remember them being quite useless at the later stages in the game; the monsters that I were killing (or rather TRYING to kill) took very little damage.

Anyway, I hope they will be brought back if they are not in the game at the moment! :D

They're still there, you just need to acquire the final ship upgrade. But Mechs are incredibly horrible, since their attack is minimal, they offer no defense at all, AND they consume energy at a tremendously fast rate even if you don't do anything. In a Hylotl's words, "How delightfully useless."

I've got the final ship upgrade, no mechs at my S.A.I.L.

Are you sure? The last ship upgrade can go unnoticed, as it happens just directly after the Tier 7 upgrade. Try checking the Penguin Bay again.

I am fairly sure that I do. My S.A.I.L told me that "if there are more automatic ship upgrades, they are unknown" or something like that.

Allright, crisis averted. You guys were right, I was just not looking properly. I found it under the head tech slot, as cooltv27 mentioned. :)
    Thanks for the help!

(kind of disappoited that energy is used to just sit in the mech)

Pair your mech with energy regen and you can use it almost indefinitely. It's also good with Targeted Blink.

What do you mean? Energy regen doesn't work if you are using energy.

I mean the energy regen tech, which works fine if you're standing still. Not sure if any food-based energy regen buffs would work tho.

I see. I just tried it and it's so-so. Feels awkward stopping every couple of seconds for a 10-second period. (or longer, I didn't count) Thanks for the tip though!

Yeah, I mostly use it when I feel like doing the Erchius Mining Facility over and over again, or the party.

    But targeted blink is head-tech.

They kinda suck right now but that's because the vehicles being Techs is just a little "demo".

They will eventually be actual vehicles, as in we might need to build them or buy them and then warp them on a planet from our ship.
    Something like that.

Yes, they did say in an older update that they finally got the vehicles to be real.....as in not tech but world objects you interact with and drive and such. Hasn't been implemented in the playable versions yet but it is coming.
