Here's the thing, people will find cheats and exploits, and abuse them. This could cause star-wide chaos! This is why I suggest mechanics against cheats. I also suggest a way to allow certain players (such as moderators and admins) to use cheats to help with the server. The cheats you should realize most is flight (with no gear such as jetpacks which should be implemented), and speed. There is also duping and things like that, but one thing at a time. What I suggest is a system that recognizes those using flyhack and speed, and sends them to a secret place where all of them will be held, guarded by unbeatable and unbreakable monsters and blocks. Make it so anyone who somehow obtains this item, is shot there on the spot. Also, another admin item. A ban hammer. If anyone receives this item that should not have access, they should be sent to the jail instantly. Like the mechanics? Emote test!

Yes. Even single player hacking could be bad. It could get players donor items without paying for it. Also, everyone at one point will go multiplayer.
Well I could see something put in place to prevent people from getting the donor items without them paying, and I could see something against taking cheated items into multiplayer, but I know some people will just want to build things in the game without having to search for them... But if admins were able to spawn in items, wouldn't they just be able to make themselfs admins on their own server, spawn is some items, and then enter a different server with said items? Or did they say that you can't bring items from one server into another?
I take offense to the very suggestion of deterring my kind. I like this idea. Especially the banhammer, although that should probably be a server-owner only item.
Worst thing to say when posting a suggestion. Also if you read this: (This), it is mentioned that they are working on anti-cheat systems and admin tools. This is not really needed to be suggested. Just thought I'd mention.
Having an anti-cheat engine is a noble idea, but as I explained in this post, Starbound multiplayer will likely be a peer-to-peer network rather than centralized locked down servers, and thus ultimately you cannot completely prevent cheating such as item duping, just detect and deal with it. Ultimately it boils down to having good admins with good admin tools, and avoid using the character/world you care about for playing on pub servers with people you don't know. Keep your trusted data with your trusted friends, and create a throwaway char/world for those pub servers when you just feel like derping around.
single player cheating is unavoidable. anything that saves to the computer can and will be hacked. they said that they would make this game incredibly modable, so you could just get a item spawner mod.
