mech upgrades disappeared

Good afternoon everyone.

I just started playing Starbound again after a several year hiatus (from early access). I attempted to upgrade my mech. There were several supposedly new upgrades for my mech that involved alot of titanium. I farmed a fair amount, then forged my upgrades. I looked in my inventory and there were no mech upgrades. I checked in the assembly station and it looked like I already had the parts that I forged. Here Is what I don't understand: Why were these upgrades listed as "new" if they are the default and I already had them? If there are actually new, where are the forged items? I suspect I wasted a ton of time farming titanium, and I was hoping to at least figure out how this game mechanic works.
