I know the issue of allowing friends to break the rules was happening because those people were allowed to continue to break the rules in the same manner no matter the amount of times I or others reported it, it was only recently the rules have actually be enforced upon them (within the last few months or so). I know about the harassment because I was there for it and even commented on it. The "red text" abuse was fixed, so that's a good thing. I know there are things happening behind the scenes, but when things continue to happen (for months on some issues) it's hard to believe anything was being done about it.

Since I'm not aware of what you're talking about, is it possible that the people being reported a lot were warned or suspended behind the scenes? I believe mods had stated that not all bans/warnings were delivered publicly with the red panda banner of shame.

As a random bystander with no idea what's going on, it sounds like there were two sides, and you are on one of them. I don't think that's the best way to get stuff done, because you're going to want your side to prevail, as you fully understand why they did what they did and you agree with them, while you may or may not know all that information about the opposing side, etc.

I not sure as to the point of this thread, are you recommending that CF take back an action that they have already made with releasing the game? We can't undo the past, we can only move forward. And they are doing that through continuing development.

  4. Omg, withdrawing Early Access to the beta would cause people to riot.

  5. Some warnings and bans are private -- we have to delete the infraction. Things like gore or porn, for example. We can't just leave that stuff up with a red panda.

All I know is that I reported someone five days in a row for posting the same content multiple times (which was racial and homophobic slurs and jokes) about a year ago and nothing was done about it, and that I know they were (the poster left the forums a few months back), maybe still are, friends with one of the moderators. All I'm stating is that these things did happen, I'm not stating something needs to be done about it now as that would be retroactive and accomplish nothing. These issue seem to not be happening anymore or as often, so that's good.

Look, if something happened a year ago, why bring it up now? If it happened again recently, then absolutely that's important information (precedent, pattern, etc). But if there's been nothing new that is even similar to it, then it's just bringing up a negative past that has hopefully already been fixed.

I'm not saying that it was right, or that it should have happened, or that whoever was there that let it slide should have been talked to, but we're here right now, and hopefully that stuff isn't happening, so just let it go. Better for everyone!

The point is that it attributed to the toxicity that has been happening for over two years, which goes back to my main point that nothing has changed when it comes to the Starbound communities being seen as hostile.

What an arogant statement, some of us ,,the steam trash" are here because Devs for some reason dont bother to ctrl + c, ctrl + v. updates on steam. Its this weird habit of some devs that want people to go on their website. I mean no offence but please no such a statements like *competence of users* when devs dont bother to update forums on steam for no reason, its not like it would slow down development or something. Btw, im new here. Hi.

For a post that is attributing to the toxicity that had been happening for over two years, this is not very specific.

Also, mods announcing their actions to the reporters isn't usually done, it might cause some big heads to form or retaliation, which no one wants.

  11. It's more work that they shouldn't have to do? People need to step out of the warm embrace (HA) of the steam forums and check the official website if they want news. It's just how CF operates.

Just to wonder if things would have been different if they waited I think.

It would take like 2 minutes to copy paste updates on steam.
I would call ignoring your customers because its just how you work an arrogance but i didnt come here to be toxic or get banned after 5 minutes here. My apologies if i offended anyone.

  14. Their customers are ignoring a readily available source of information because it's not written in a window within steam. It's not like they're asking for you to comb through piles of posts on reddit or use the search function on the forum, you just have to literally visit the front page of their official site.

Don't forget it wasn't too long ago (and is kinda still a thing) that a lot of stuff was mainly posted on Reddit (AMA events come to mind), so that argument doesn't hold too much water as you could quite easily say the same thing, but replace Steam Forums with Official Forums and Official Forums with Reddit.

It has certainly got better recently, but this type of stuff goes back a couple of years now and they have only just started to take notice

Both sides are right. It's pretty much just as easy to post it to steam as it is to read it on the main site. certainly not worth the trouble of getting angry over (not saying you are, but it does happen).

Also, you barely need to "comb through reddit threads." I've barely visited reddit and to me it's pretty straight-forward as to find dev comments.

I did read wall of texts on the first page. And i dont want to call a taboo here but i didnt see an expected time for new stable update there.

  18. I didn't mention that because it has ceased to be a problem as of late (like the past 3 months).

To be fair, Tenshi is pointing out that it is still a problem. It just isn't a problem HERE, because the official forums started receiving official news updates. We complained a lot here, and the devs started including us in the news feeds.

Steam community sounds like they are complaining a lot, but have not yet been included in the news feeds. I think the exact same arguments we brought up here could be applied to steam forums (copy/paste, or even just post a link to here).

They are not giving that out regardless of where you read the news. So that's not very relevant. The latest news is still available on the main page and reddit.
