As a dedicated dirt under fingernails farmer in every game I've played that allows it, I'm SOOOOOOO thrilled for this update. Thank you for focusing on this, maybe adding the ability for our crops to be used in potions/building materials/clothing, etc...and realizing that all crops vary and have their own perks/requirements- I'll dedicate many, many hours to growing them ps. If you add in the rare possibility of growing a pet, such as Walter the Wheatie, or Pollianna the Pearlpea, that would be a fantastic surprise.
Cool stuff. Something I wanna point out just from a game idea perspective is that since many of the plants are quite outlandish perhaps some could be materials for things. Automatos for example have screws, so maybe you could grow them to extract screws for something...
Entirely my fault, I accidentally "published" the post a month ago. Had to fix it to show the correct date.
I like having the possibility of doing different things and still be able to progress out through the game.
Ah, wonderful! I'm glad to see opening to every playstyle. I'm having trouble getting pixels even now, and I might have to reset to a new character because of that. Because of this update, I may play Hylotl again. Yes, I like to feel in touch with the characters.
Id like to see the various plants be used for potions. Money is fine too but that adds a lot more depth. Also do you have to be present on a planet for the crops to grow? Ive tried the farming thing but nothing ever seems to grow.
Oh my god. This post just hit me. Pretty much all I do in Starbound is search for recipes and grow food.. Please make more to do in that part of the game!
Farming now produces double the amount of food items that it previously did. Armagon's posting habits reflect this new direction!
To piggy-back on what LastDay has said, it would be cool to see certain plants be used in an alchemy sense, for example having a plant that has healing properties that you could use to turn into a heath stim pack. A player could make an empty stim pack and then further refine the plant and "fill" the empty stim. The speed boost could be a stimulant type plant and so on. Or scratch being able to craft an empty stim and make it so that after you use a purchased and/or found stim it leaves you with an empty stim to make it a bit more difficult, but allow you to have a reusable source of heath and other boosts. Just a thought and something interesting to add a little more depth as well as making it a little easier to obtain stims to assist your character.
