Sooo I can't find the post anymore, but I'm pretty sure there was someone who said they usually max out their farming skill in spring of year 1, and I'm just wondering how? I tried, but I don't think I had enough stamina or money to manage it. If someone could either help me find the post/a similar post or tell me their way of doing it, that'd be great! EDIT: I might've actually remembered it wrong, but I'd still love to know if it would be possible somehow.
http://community.playstarbound.com/...helm-people-tl-dr-fish-and-then-plant.130615/ This is from one of the most ambitious people I read in my time here and even he "only" got to farming six. But he raised all the other skills crazy high too. Maybe it helps you on your quest for perfection (of farming).
All right, here's the math on what you propose to do: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Farming#Experience_Points Getting to level ten in any skill requires 15,000 experience points. A breakdown of points per harvested crop is included (note the bug for experience when harvesting scythed crops). Rough estimate on four twenty-eight day seasons puts that at an average of needing (rounded up) about 134 experience points per day. You naturally won't be harvesting on a daily basis, so, we'll break that down seasonally to needing to earn 3750 exp each season for the first year to reach that goal. (It gets worse. That will actually be 5000 exp per season for the Spring/Summer/Autumn because you cannot harvest /anything/ in Winter unless you get a Greenhouse!) Your best bet is probably berries-- Strawberries in Spring, Blueberries in Summer, Cranberries in Autumn. Please note-- unless you get a greenhouse up and running before the Winter, you can earn /no farming exp. during that season/. Planting and harvesting Winter Wild Seeds counts as a foraging skill boost, not farming. I won't say what you're hoping to do is impossible (and if you've seen a thread by someone saying they have done it, perhaps they have), but you're setting a pretty high bar to try for, and that is not taking into account all the other skills and activities you'll need to earn the money for seeds and tool upgrades and equipment. Good luck! EDIT: Dopey me, I just re-read the OP's question and see they want to get to level ten Farming by the end of their first Spring. Now, that I'm /highly/ doubtful is even possible, since you'd need to harvest over /800/ Strawberries by the end of the month! You'd need to earn enough before the Egg Festival to buy the seeds for them, which would be, let's see... 83,300g in your first two weeks of play. Eep.
I have never been able to get higher than level 6 Farming by the end of Spring 1. Not that you need any more. Level 6 gets you the advance sprinkler and my goal is to have 27-30 sprinklers by the start of summer 1.
Thank you for all your answers so far, maybe I remembered it wrong... Might try and do the math to see if it's even possible.
This probably means nothing, but with a fishing glitch (put up the journal when fishing to freeze time), i managed 50k before the egg festival, and bought 400 strawberry plants. You get 2 harvests, so that's 800 strawberries, not to mention the potatoes i farmed on the way to the 13th. By the way, I do not suggest trying to maximize money like this, even if you sleep at 12 ,you'll have a fishing level of 10 by the egg festival, but every day is over 30 minutes long, and the 400 strawberries take from 6am to 4pm to water with a copper can (don't even think about mining, there's no time). It's an excruciatingly boring way to play Stardew, that's for sure.
Holy heck, I didn't know about the fishing glitch, either. Probably won't use it for trying to max out my farming skill, but thanks for sharing!
Hey guys, I'm not sure if it's okay to bump an old post like this, but just wanted to say it's definitely possible to get to Farming Level 10 by Spring 27th of year one! I can write a guide if anyone is interested, but the tl;dr of it is... -you need 300 strawberry plants planted by Spring 15 -you need about 50 cauliflower as well to get the 30,000G for the egg festival... -plant as many potatoes as possible on Spring 6 (when they can be fertilized) -if you don't have at least 150 potatoes planted, plant some fertilized parsnips on Spring 8 as well -the rest of the income comes from mining (my preference) and/or fishing -do not eat your forage! only eat spring onions, field snacks, and green algae -do not sell your forage as is. combine 1 of each (leek, daffodil, dandelion, and horseradish) into 10 spring seeds and sell this for 350g. this is double the profit. -scythe up every single fiber on your farm and in the forest/town. it sells for 1g each. You can make about 500g this way without energy use, but more importantly, you will probably get 15-20 mixed seeds by doing this
