I use a program called Cheat Engine to edit the stack count of the materials I use. In that way I only have to actually collect 10-20 of each building material.
Ah. Yes. I've used Cheat Engine in the past. (I think I used it for pokemon or something... not sure) Either way, your build is still impressive. I look forward to more of your work.
It's going to get thinner as it goes up. But near the top, there's going to be a large "observation deck". Google "CN Tower" for an idea of what I'm talking about. So far I'm thinking of basing it heavily on steel blocks, reinforced hi-tech blocks, and other things that are easily craftable with pixels alone (I'm expecting serious material deficits).
Haha. I don't have to Google CN Tower. I live about an hour from it and see it quite often. That sounds like it will look really great when its finished. Hm, yes. Resources could be difficult. Might I suggest going to mine on desert planets. It makes mining a lot faster thanks to the fine sand just dropping goods when you mine under it.
Should I put up progress shots once in a while or wait until it's done ? This thread is for massive builds, but in the early stages the tower would simply be short and fat ...
Built a maze branching off my tower. Had ideas to add embellishments, but it already took far longer than I anticipated, and I can't bring myself to polish it knowing that it will be lost to a server wipe. The maze is approximately 160k blocks.
IMO, there should be floor numbers worked into the background tiles of the "elevator" part. Not just for navigation but because it looks more awesome in screenshots. =)
Amazing Build! How many hours did you spend to build? Uploaded a video from our home planet buildings before the angry koala patch.
