    I didn't FINISH the dialogue, but I added a considerable amount, I thought I'd release what I had now because I have a crowded work schedule for the next couple of days so I won't have a lot of dedicated modding time. I ABSOLUTELY PROMISE I'll be back soon (oh so super-duper soon) to add more to this mod.

    I'm also going to be changing the lore a touch. I had this idea where instead of just leaving the destruction of the Mantis' homeworld a mystery, I'm going to reveal the treacherous MANTECH CORPORATION which, fueled by an insatiable lust for discovery, subjugated the Mantis people and put them to work mining and digging their own planet to the core. I feel like this is a necessary change because it's more in line with the new Starbound update coming out: the Mantis Player is in a destroyed ship in space because he/she stole a ManTech Mining Vessel, had to break past ManTech planetary defense guns, and just barely cleared orbit in time to make an FTL jump. It also gives me a good basis and story that I like enough to put as the Mantis' intro cinematic (in the works).

    I'm also definitely changing the planet's name...I don't like Proximus...anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello hello :)

    I'm always thinking that our gaming world needs more playable insectoids. So I'm happy whenever I find some well done mods. And this one is quite well done for sure. Thumbs up (all four of them) and some hearts for the creator <3
    But... (yeah, there are always buts...) it seems that there are some issues with the Avali race mod found over here. Whenever I want to play as Mantis, the game crashes. I tried to make them work together, but, to be honest, I'm stupid when it comes to coding and stuff. I came that far to think that there are maybe some items that are created by both mods. But I'm not really sure.
    Insects have a higher priority for me, so I am using the Mantis mod. But it would be really cool to use them both, because they are quite good at all.

    So... now the question: Would it be possible that someone took a look on those mods and, perhaps, resolve the issues? I would be really thankful!

    EDIT: So, it seems that there is another troublemaker. I though I found it... Well, sorry for that.

    EDIT2: Okay, now I don't know what I should do. I deleted the Avali mod, than Mantis worked. I didn't change anything, but now I'm getting some Error I don't know how to solve it.

    I'd have to take a closer look at it myself, but according to that log, the game doesn't like something with the storage locker on the mantis ship... what isn't helping me though is that I've been able to run my race with the Avali mod installed just fine. I've had quite a few people tell me my mod doesn't work in conjunction with others, but I've seen other people's mods (like the Avali) do the same thing. The problem is, only some people seem to have the problem.

    Honestly what baffles me is how it's even possible for two races to conflict with each other unless they use the same item names (almost not possible) or object ID numbers. Come to think of it, I do have an amber block that appears in the ship storage locker, which uses an object ID that *MIGHT* already be taken in the Avali mod, but the odds of that are so small, there's almost no way. I'll give it a more thorough look when I get the chance, but anyway I'm really glad you're liking my mod! Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks starbound absolutely NEEDS an insect race.

    If you have any suggestions as to what direction you'd like to see this mod go, please let me know so I can keep improving it! Seriously I love hearing suggestions, it lets me know people are interested and also it gives me a ton of inspiration.

    Simply forget my doubts about Avali... The troublemaker seems to be someone else. I deleted Avali and the Mantis worked fine.. for exactly one loadup. Than the same problem occurred. Unfortunately I'm running around 150 mods, so it would be some work to delete one, load the game and try to play as Mantis, close the game and delete another mod. But it seems there is no way around this.
    Pelase tell me what you would need to get a better chance to track down the bug.

    Absolutely. Not only Starbound, for sure. But for some reason people tend to make insects evil. I don't know any game in which you can play as insectoid, at least not in vanilla. But hey, I'm one of those guys who can not be happy with what they've got. I'd wish I knew some coding to realise my own race mods. But I'm not, so I'm happy that there are well done mods out there.     Hmm, maybe if you're running a lot of mods, and a lot of them add new blocks to the game, the problem being that one of my items takes up the same Object ID sounds more and more like a possibility. I'll see if I can change that ID then I'll send you an edited version to test out. The only problem with that theory is it shouldn't have worked even once if there was an ID conflict.

    In the meantime, since that might not be the issue, if you could send me a link to a complete errorlog (especially now that you know Avali isn't the one messing it up) that would be helpful. Thanks!

    That error I posted above is the only mantis-related error I get. All the others are some things about that grapplinghook...

    I have some spare time today so I will do my testing.

    First try:
    Deleted every mod except mantis and charactercreation. Made a mantis. Worked quite fine (I love the ship btw).
    Re-enabled all my mods, loaded that already created mantis: WORKED. No generic items in inventory, blocks and seeds and the sword worked like they should.

    So whatever the bug is, it occurs only when the game wants to build the ship (locker I guess) for the very first time. That explains why it worked that one time, because I didn't create a new guy back then.
    It's up to me now to find the troublemaker. For now it's nice to have a workaround.

    It seems to be rebalanced_throwing_weapons, which seems to have no proper __merge for it's default.treasurepools. At least, that is what I'm reading out of the facts. There is no newer version than mine, so I guess I have to toss it out of my folders.

    Is the Mantis mod gonna get updated for the next stable patch? IE is still work being done on the mod? Last update on the mantis mod is quite a while back so I wondered

    I'm looking into patching up to Upbeat Giraffe. It looks like a pretty daunting task, a lot has changed, but I'll see what I can do.

    Looks like it's going smoother than I thought. The race is working as of now, I'm just ironing out a couple of things. Expect a release by the end of the day.
