Welcome! Let's get to the introduction:Username: PyrotanisGoal: Enjoy making fanart and speculate about the gameAbout Feedback: While nice comments are always welcome, don't be afraid to tell me what you don't like about the art or some tips you think I can make use of.My own Ideas: Requests: Zoraculus' Slime Guy (forgot the legs, sorry.) Joxalot's Spawn(forum BG clashed with palette)Request List: 1-Vapor Horologium Corpus-Armored Man-Starbound2-Force2Reckon-Death Knight OC-Freeform3-Bamseper-Komodo Dragon-Starbound(Mob)4-Master Pixely-Steampunk Armor-Freeform5-Zailiner-MLP FOOLS-Freeform6-BrutorDragon-Skeletal Dragon King(Himself)-StarboundTo clarify, here are the requests you can make:1.Starbound-Exactly what you'd expect- using this or this character template (you can requests weapons and monsters in this style as well; while I don't have a template for these I'll use in-game pics for style reference). 2.Freeform-Made from scratch, like DeusExel's and Angry Muffin's, just takes longer. Make it easy on me by saying which you would like! And more to come!Feel free to request!
Update #2 Finally got Photoshop transparency to work! Did some guns as well as the poses for if/when I want to do more. Top Left: Reference Top Middle: Two handed gun pose Top Right: Shotgun pose, with sketch below it before refined shading Bottom Left: Big-ass Future Magnum pose, along with projectile Had fun making this, and would like to make more soon If you guys have any requests, don't hesitate to ask! The best part of making content is hearing the feedback. (P.S.-Realized the shade of gray I used kinda clashed with forum background, hope it's not too hard to see.)
I didn't have time to finish B.O.B. today, but I thought the least I could do is show what I've done so far. It is pretty difficult to implement the polygonal shapes precisely with only pixels, but I'm enjoying the challenge and hope to finish the limbs and shading as soon as possible! Also, if you'd like another color scheme(trying to use gray shades took an hour and nearly drove me mad),don't hesitate to ask!
I use GraphicsGale for my pixel art (at the moment) , but it really sucks because for most pictures except the template, the individual pixels are 4x4 or 6x6 or 3x 3 squares in the program. I need to get photoshop- does it have customizable brush sizes and stuff?
Hehe I love it^^ actually BOB is white but red is also okay. Can you make a red and a white version pls?
I don't actual use Photoshop to make my pixel art. I make the art in MS Paint, then enlarge the art usually around five times bigger using simple multiplication for the selection containing the art. The only part I use Photoshop for is the transparency, in which I use the Magic Wand tool with contiguous selection and high tolerance. But to answer your question, Photoshop does have different brush sizes and shapes. The only problem is the amount of complex customization, in my opinion, is not really fit for pixel art, and rather is better for editing photos and drawing paintings with a drawing tablet. If you're comfortable with GraphicsGale(which I am in no way), I would suggest sticking with it and editing the proportions afterward.
I use paint.net which is basically free photoshop, I pixel as well and paint.net treats me well Im not sure of the style of starbound quite yet since i'm used to dynamic sprites of cortex command of which depth shading is extremely important to match the style of the game. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it with time. Your fire is really nice tho,
