I think a magic mirror should be implemented, and when used it tells you who the most beautiful of them all is.
His name is Redigit not reddit. Reddit is a web site, not a person. BTW, by your logic if I were to make a teleporter out of a mirror in a game I make i would have to face copyright issues. One more thing all we want is an item like the magic mirror, not a complete copy-paste. You obviously can't see the crystal clear point that is right in front of your eyes, we want a teleporter that just sends us to our house.
Also I see another bad opinions why, I know both aren't bad ppl, it just they had a "differences" opinions. I know redigit isn't reddit, I use it for short so I don't have to type down extra letters, anyway reason why. The reason why they had "differences" is about the game issue for it...should be more easy revolved around which why chuckle fish took their leave because they want create something easy express more and chuckle fish whine about company that he work on using their program, when he discover he is working on the game, then the part its got complicated when 2 games wasn't bound like oil and water... I don't know where should pierces spot how the complex started right in the middle cuz I've reply to thous 5 ppl and said same issue, don't try make things worst by asking both them once more do a trade stuff just only 2 1/2 ppl, the third one doesn't know because he is confused same as me with this issue. So I better not see fireworks set off the wrong direction to the cloth factory again. So, its either one them have to apologized or both them had too, or....well ...ask both them work together again to do trades sending bunch letters. I can't make oil and water together because I don't have supporting ingredient to hope make it one the best meal. I am not hating it, it just that I don't like see company compete when they once work with each other should find way make trade with each other in the nice way. I know this is golden option still, but you still ask reddit and chuckle work with each other in fair trade if you really really want the magic mirror in the game. literary, literary, literary!
There's still a very simple fact that copyright doesn't matter. In fact, it's not even slightly relevant because if any legal concern was going to come into play it would be a patent. Copyright = rights to a particular thing Patent = rights to an idea The magic mirror is an idea, and does Redigit have a patent for the magic mirror? You don't have to check, I know the answer: they don't. As long as Starbound doesn't use the exact same texture, then they're fine. Changing the name wouldn't go amiss either. So now we've established that there are no legal concerns: I've wanted this from day 1, I'd love to see it implemented. Since I'm pretty sure Chucklefish is adding some kind of teleporter anyway, that may do the job. I just hope it's not like Terraria's teleporter where the two pads have to be connected by wire.
Chucklefish never worked on Terraria though! An ex-employee named T.I.Y. quit from Relogic and wanted to make a game of his own with chucklefish, so he moved into chucklefish and made Starbound.
Nobody f***ing cares what happened between the two. It is in no way relevant at all. All we want is for some kind of Teleporter to work underground. It in no way needs to use Magic or be a Mirror. And so it is in no way Stealing from Terraria, as such a function is quite simple and useful. Granted, the Original Thread did use the words Magic Mirror because it has an equal function, but he did in no way suggest we steal it 100%. This really is just quite simple. But it has been suggested before, and so to be honest, I see no reason to continue this thread. You also keep bringing up how people shouldn't bring it up. WELL BLOODY STOP IT THEN!
Most of the posts that I have found are place-able objects, like a pad, portal, beacon type... Which is fine to suggest, but I wouldn't mind having something like this in the form of a com. A handheld device that you would use to teleport back to the ship, or marked spawn. Of course they would have to add the marked spawn point in before that can be used, or rather some way of changing it before that option would be feasible. Hate to continue this thread further due to the name, but it is closest to what I had in mind for a portable teleporter. All the others I have looked up with the idea is what I mentioned above, plus quite a few are more than a month old... I just wanted to add my input on the idea despite the thread title. It is obviously not going to be called that or even look like that, as to me that just wouldn't fit into the game. The mechanic behind it, not fully, as I would rather it be a bit more than just to spawn. The idea in mind I had, as mentioned above, is multi-functional, and will work with some of the other ideas that have been mentioned in older posts that deal with pads & beacons... It could give you a choice to either go back to ship, or pick from a list of spawn locations that would be setup within those other ideas. Thank you for reading if you read this far.
Okay, but if it is to work indoor (underground) and not be stationary, then I think it should be expensive or have a cost to use (Not a pixel percentage, because that's just lame). I just don't think this game should become any easier than it already is. So if you're too lazy to build an easy-to-climb mineshaft, then you could just pay a teleport fee (Not Pixel Percentage, but perhaps a solid Pixel amount. 500 Maybe?).
Perhaps. That does sound feasible, as I too do not want to see it being exploited too much, or too easy as stated. Having a cost is good whether it is in pixels or even just in the making, if not both. I was thinking it being a hirer tier than the base tier, as it is portable. Just not sure which tier would be feasible... Maybe tier 4-6, since that is when you are able to make the survival kit for moons & such. If that other idea was to be implemented, then I would say it would have to be a tier or 2 after that. Like in the way the 3D printer becomes portable not on the first tier, but 1 or 2 tiers after the base tier. 500 pixels might be good enough, even if it is a later tier; however I do agree if it is a pixel cost it should be a static amount and not just some % or variable. maybe even having cell material being added to the cost, as you would be essentially teleporting yourself on a molecular level to be recombined, per say, to a location. That is how I imagined the beaming from to and fro anyhow. I was thinking possibly the crafting of it being of durasteel or the metal/ore of the tier it is introduced, Pixels, and possibly 1 other material to make initially. The possibly could be Cell Material, as I am unsure what that is exactly used for at the moment and to some degree would make sense.
In fact, I think it should just become available at very late tiers. Because at this point mining is not needed nearly as much, and you have access to asteroidfields after all, so deep mines are obsolete.
That makes perfect sense, as I have said, being at a later tier. At this point in the development it is uncertain which tier it should go in, as the other tiers and places have not been added yet, or I should say fleshed out enough & balanced. I've only just recently got to the Tier 4 stuff, mainly because I wanted that survival gear item for obvious reasons. So the com being a later device to teleport would be a perk of the later tiers, just like how capturing creatures is when Tier 5 is reached, and soundly exploring airless places on Tier 4. Would have to see what they do with the tiers beyond the latest boss in order to be certain where this item would fit in, even as a perk. It is just a matter of when it would be feasible to be able to used as a perk. Hopefully the underground stuff when added would benefit this idea and make it find a place among the Tiers. Right now as it stands I primarily surface mine, since there isn't much underground to check out beyond the mini-biomes, hence me wondering & waiting for some underground stuff to be appended to. The more variety to be found the more chance in wanting to dig further down beyond the usual making a base/home of sorts.
It's obvious that he's not very good with english, but I'm pretty sure he's referring to the expression "Bury the hatchet" which basically means making peace.
I really wonder if he'll understand it now, I mean everyone tried explaining it that guy, but maybe the red text will help.
I do not want a to-surface warp of any kind. There is already a warp home feature, having it work underground would trivialize many things. (akin to save-exit-rejoin in terraria.) Also to the guy saying it's a clone of the magic mirror: this is also called 'Scroll of town portal' and every dark ages RPG has it in some form. Torchlight, Diablo, Titan quest, sacred, i could go on. The concept is not unique to terraria. On topic: if there WAS an item, i would prefer it to be very difficult to make or come by. Cell materia as is are very common, but matter blocks? Not many of those. I'd be ok with those being needed.
At that point it would be obsolete. On L3-5 planets is when i find bubble tech or boost tech and can just fly up while mining. when you're in imp gear there's not much that can stop you. 'cept maybe obsidian. Man I hate that stuff.
matter blocks might work. I was mainly referring to when using it, part of the cost being cell material. Matter blocks being part of the initial crafting cost would work, as that is rare enough, or so it seems. I've only found 1 in the 3-4 systems I have been in; in this recent update. Don't know when those were introduced, as I have never seen them before this last one. As far as the imp and solarium is concerned that might be too late in the game to make it. I was thinking more along the lines being late game, but not end game item. Which in a way would make more sense, at least to me. So possibly tier 6-8, as past that would be in a way redundant; since past 8 it is almost end game in a way. I guess it is just me though in the way that I actually play.... hmm... I do stand by my statement in saying that it is best to know what the tiers are going to be like before inputting it into one. As that part is still in my opinion only a rough idea, and not something to base on a full idea until those are fleshed out more.
I'm not "very good" in English. There's a huge difference between a language barrier and an intelligence barrier. (Really, what's up with "can't" it means "can not" right? So if you say "Why can't you get me a beer?" you're saying "why can not you get me a beer?" I mean... what!)
