Mad Terraformer seeking answers

I plan to try out my first terraformer on a moon. I'm just gathering glitter from all these Vaults I'm chaining, and I need to do something crazy. I have three questions:

1. Will this even work? Is it in the terraformers' power to give an atmosphere to a moon?

2. If it does work, will the fuel evaporate upon contact with air? If not, will the Spoop Noodle still chase you?

3. Are there any legit blocks that are meteor resistant? I don't want to be interrupted while I'm performing my ethically neutral experiment. If so, to what degree can I shield the terraformer without hampering its ability to change the environment?

As chance would happen, I just finished running this test.

Yes, you can terraform a moon, and once the moon's surface is more than 50% covered with a single biome, its base type will change.
Yes, a fully terraformed moon has a breathable atmosphere.
No, the fuel will not disappear from terraformed areas.
No, Spoop Noodle will not spawn once the planet has an atmosphere. A terraformed moon is safe to harvest fuel from at any depth.

As for meteor-resistant blocks...what moons are you chilling on that have meteor bombardments? ._.;

As for the moon, the moon will be safe from the Spoops when it's about 50% terraformed.

 

They all have that. I remember my first moon I ever beamed down to back in beta. There was a meteor shower happening, and I got hit. No atmosphere means meteors can hit with impunity.

The Erchius didn't evaporate. It's especially spectacular at night.

I decided to leave some moon behind, because I thought it would look interesting.


It stays the same underground, except for one noticeable difference.

 

It even changes what the moon looks like on the planet select screen on your ship.

 

This would be really cool if you were building a mine outpost, having all the Erchius and such lying around

 

I plan to build a refuge for the members of Letheia who survived the Erchius Horror incident. I will specifically tell them not to mine the fuel, and that it's mine.

 

The mystery of how they stopped the horror from spawning has been answered.

 

That'd be cool, I'd love to see it once its done

 

Also, asteroid fields are gem mines for pixels. Does the terraformer work there? I haven't tried yet.

 

You madman. I can just picture an atmosphere ring with rocks floating in it. It's... quite wondrous, actually.

 

Sadly, I have now tried, and it won't let you. Says you have to be on a planet. Such a shame

 

Amusingly, they do work on the Ruin, which also isn't a planet.

 

True, but the game crashes the moment the planet would have changed biome type.

 

Get out your crossbow and use the gravity bolts on the terraformed moon monsters.

It's magical.

Speaking of Terraforming, is there a Poison Terraformer? Cause i'd very much like one.

 

You mean Toxic (the poison sea)? No, sadly, since fluids won't be transformed by terraforming.
