Closed Mac trouble or?

So ever since the new update my game freezes on the loading bit after the chucklefish laugh/logo, then it crashes. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still no luck. And so I'm curious, is this happening to other people, is it because I have a mac? Just want to know what's up because I love this game and now I can't play..

 

Looks like the same problem with the ds store in the player folder...

 

Are you loading it from Steam or straight from the folder?

If I lauch the app from steam I've got a crash for sure, If I launch the game from the folder and delele DS_store works fine...

 

Yes Bartwe mentioned this last night on Twitter. Just turn off the Steam overlay and the game will also start from Steam... Had the same problem last night and it only affects the Mac version.

 

How can I turn off steam overlay?

 

mine always crashes right after the chucklefish logo when i start it up the first time (macbook air 2013 in fullscreen), however when i click on the mac os dialogue to retry it starts up fine... oh well... what's the deal with the steam overlay?

 

Yeah so could someone thoroughly explain how explain to me how to run it. Do I have to delete a file and if so how? Thanks!

 

in your steam library, rightklick on Starbound. Properties. in the General Tab.

 

ok so now it just gets stuck on the loading screen and doesnt crash but doesnt load..

 

I've disabled my overlay and it still crashes on start for me.

 

Go to ../Users/...your_user_name../Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common and delete the Starbound folder. Then try re-running the game. I had the same problem but this fixed it.

 

There are some issues caused by Steam being unable to remove user-created files...

You should be able to get past this just by deleting the player and universe directories.
