I'm playing Stardew Valley v1.1 (I think? Just installed it today, October 13, 2016) installed through Steam on OSX Yosemite v. 10.10.5 on a MacBook Air.

It's running in full screen. Right click is ctrl+mouse click on my computer. I'm not using a USB mouse, just pushing the track pad to left click.

I bought fish soup and also found some wild horseradish.
When I ctrl click to eat, nothing happens. The food remains in inventory and stats do not change.
Clicking the food in inventory makes my character hold it.
The result is the same whether I am right clicking the character or the ground around the character and inside or outside of buildings.

I have not tried to give a present yet but am I trying for Clint the blacksmith's birthday.

Oops. I'm sorry. I found it. Not a game bug, but a bug in all wikis and tutorials I've yet found.

It's not right click or control click to eat. You hold the item over your head and type X to get the eating message to pop up.
I'll try to give my food to the blacksmith if I didn't miss his birthday.
