Hey all! I was a little bit curious about how lucky others are with their RNG events. I for one was feeling pretty good about not only getting the fairy to visit me on night one to grow my crops, but also getting bread from trash cans on the first couple of days in a row. I dunno, mostly the fairy though! Certainly sped me along haha. What's your luckiest experience in the Valley?
Getting the fairy early on a crop is great! I do this thing where after the second Melon harvest, on Summer 25, I plant wheat which will be ready to harvest on Fall 1 and the ground will already be tilled for the Fall planting. When I do see the fairy it seems it's that wheat that she came to bless, even though it's a utility thing and I'm NOT going to cut it early. Usually when she does bless my crops it only cut's off a day or two. I got a Treasure Chest in a tresure chest(inception?) once on Spring 2. That's a backpack upgrade, a fiberglass rod and a gob of seeds for free. A couple times I've got Neptune's Glaive or the Broken Trident before the mine opened up.
I started an animal farm on the Xbox One and did a lot of fishing to get started. I found an ancient seed and an iridium band in the same fishing chest halfway through spring.
I can't say I've had a lot of good luck, but I'd say the luckiest thing I've experienced was finding an ancient seed in my first Spring and within the first few floors of the mines. Thankfully I knew it was worth keeping from watching LPs, so I donated it to Gunther right away. I never realised how rare it was, though, so I didn't realise how much I'd lucked out on my first run until I didn't get it until Year 2 in my second playthrough. Aside from that? Nothing, really. Maybe the time one of the legendary fish pretty much stayed still and pretty much let me catch it? I think it was the Angler? I can't remember correctly. I know something like that didn't move much while I was trying to catch it.
I've had the fairy visit a couple of times, which is always lovely! I also managed to get the ancient seed artifact in Spring of Year 1, which was pretty helpful (since I didn't realize how rare they were at that time).
As if digging up two ancient seed artifacts by Spring 4 and getting a third one drop from a bug on the first visit to the mines on Spring 5 wasn't lucky enough, having planted them outdoors on Spring 6 under the safety of the first scarecrow, I got a visit from the crop fairy that night and was harvesting three ancient fruit on the morning of Spring 7. Each plant bore 12 fruit for the year, one every Sunday until Fall 28, and when I had finished running them through the seed maker on the first day of Winter, I had I think it was 75 ancient seeds to launch my greenhouse
When you start off in the mine and get the quest for killing the slimes from Marlon (Not sure if that is his name), I killed them and on my last slime, I got the Small Glow Ring drop from a special slime and I didnt even know they were different. My boyfriend got an iridium bar early on and wasn't even through the 1st year when he caught up to me, now on my 4th year in Winter.
Finding a gold bar in Haley's trash can on day 2 was definitely a highlight for me! Around the beginning of summer I also got a fire quartz from an omni-geode and so was able to unlock the minecarts long before I hit the gold levels of the mines.
Well... let's see. My very first play-through, fairy visited Summer 2 and brought a large patch of Blueberries to maturity instantly. Which meant a whole lot more harvests than I was anticipating. My most recent one, I got an Ancient Seed on my first mine dive, giving me seven harvests of the ancient fruit before winter started. That was a hefty benefit. Never have gotten a Neptune's Glaive, after the hundreds of hours in the game. Then again, fishing is not my favorite pastime, so it stands to reason.
I've gotten Neptune's Glaive around day 3, but I'd say my luckiest find was a Treasure Chest and Iridium Band in the same fishing chest on Fall 6. I've found a couple of Diamonds in the trash. I guess I can consider it lucky that I finished the museum even though it took seven years, because it seems like a lot of people never get the RNG on the last one or two artifacts.
This was just this evening. I'm only 10 floors deep in the mine and still have just the rusty sword. It's going to be a good spring for mining. It's also kind of nice since I'm on the Wilderness map this time.
I think the luckiest I've ever been was my second or third game where I fished up a glaive and an ancient seed sometime in spring. I don't recall I made good use of it alas.
Luckiest for me iirc was finding a mystic stone with a Prismatic Shard in the quarry early in Year 2, so I could get that sweet, sweet Galaxy Sword and tear through the mines like paper.
I suppose the luckiest event that occurred to my avatars was actually a non-event: the witch appeared one night, and cursed...a dead plant. Either her night vision's slipping of late, or she was sampling just a bit too much of that ale. In any case, that was lucky, considering some of the damage she does just because the poor dear stays indoors too long and really paints the town black when she finally cuts loose.
On my riverlands playthrough, on spring 7 I found an ancient seed in the mines, and not even 10 seconds later I found a second. I planted them right away, and by the end of fall I had 16 ancient fruit which I turned into a fair amount of seeds. Also, on my regular farm playthrough, in early spring I had gotten a broken trident from fishing, which carried me through the mines until I got an obsidian edge.
My general starting strategy is to not plant anything back on Spring 5, after the first parsnip harvest. That way I can sleep, level up, and plant everything on the morning of the 6th, with fertilizer. @squigglyruth turned me on to the idea of planting 2 potatos, 2 cauliflower and 2 beans, plus parsnips on day 1. That way the cauliflower is ripe on the morning of the egg festival and the Spring Crops bundle can be filled out to get the 20 speed-gro to make that many strawberries 1/3 more profitable. Anyhow, on the night of the 5th this happened... It's not the "luckiest ever" but it's nice none the less. I can meet the Wizard and fill both the Spring Foraging and Crops bundles on the morning of the 6th.
