Loving the new bird AI and scaled fall damage!

    Birds are actually a threat now; they come down much lower, so they actually hit you with their attacks, and they chase you much farther than they used to. No more ignoring those birds!

    And the change to fall damage was also very nice. Instead of taking either no fall damage or instakill fall damage, you take damage based on the height from which you fall. I've taken hits as low as 3 and as high as 85. I actually have to pay attention now and climb down from ledges a little more slowly. And I have already died a few times to monsters knocking me off pretty low ledges.

    I love it too. Yes, they are a pain in the a** at first...but once u have a ranged weapon its fine.
    Before the patch everybody was simply ignoring the birds...well, not anymore >:3

    I just hate that birds become flashing death projectiles when they die.

    I just kill myself by jumping around. Before was good, now it's annying ... seriously TOO MUCH.

    It definitely took some getting used to, but I am loving that extra layer of difficulty. No more jumping around willy-nilly :)

    But in a game where you jump as much and as high as this, the fall damage is a little bit too much. Imho, the safe fall distance should be extended a bit. Especially because it's so easy to slip when aiming for a narrow ridge while climbing down a steep mountain.

    The minimum safe distance seems about right to me, though. If you fall more than a few meters you take minimal damage. Seems realistic. (Well, ignoring the fact that I am an intelligent monkey flying around in a spaceship, it's realistic, hehe)

    I tied my perception of realism to the jumping height. It just feels a bit too fiddly to me, but, eh, opinions.

    For me there were two damage amounts: a lot and more than a lot, lol. Now it ranges from 3 to instakill. (And you take minimal damage from falling from a much lower height.)

    If you have a Tech (double jump, dash, gravity bubble) you shouldn't take fall damage, ever. Just gotta learn how to use those to prevent it.
    And if you don't have any Tech (though honestly, you should because their spawn rate is off the charts), you can still use blocks to descend steep ledges or big chasms.

    And quite frankly, both are VERY easy to do, and to get used to. You want ALL threats removed from the game?

    They should make birds attack in more varied ways. Like divebombing and swooping at you. They should be as much of a threat as ground based monsters.

    Also at first I was bothered by falling birds hurting me, but heck, it's a corpse falling out of the sky, it should hurt!

    I think you may have misunderstood my post. I was lauding the change to fall damage, not bemoaning it ;)

    I love the fact I have to be careful descending mountains, and especially careful fighting monsters atop mountains.

    Only problem is that birds can hurt you after they're dead now. Basically, when they fall on the ground, they can still damage you for some reason.

    Also, the scaled fall damage is great, but I find myself getting hurt too much from falls that weren't even that bad.

    I have been Divebombed a lot. It could be that only birds on certain planets have that ability. The exploding corpses got me at first :)

    Yeah, some of the bird types explode when they land. I don't think all of them do, though.

    I seem to take the minimum fall damage when I fall from about 5 meters, which seems appropriate.
