So I started a character and sort bum rushed to the distress beacon; that didn't go so well, so I figured I'd try using some coordinates to get a better weapon. I went to the avian pirate ship from the interesting coordinates thread, bought a gun, beamed back to my ship, and pressed the "Go Home" button.

And nothing happened; I had forgot to make my starting planet (with all my crafting supplies) as a home planet. I did, however, see a thin dashed line extending from where I was off into space on the star-map. I have no idea where it leads as it goes on for a very, very long time (followed it, moving the map as fast as I could, for about 10 minutes) without end.

    TLDR:
There seems to be a line that points towards the most recently visited star system. There is !!SCIENCE!! that needs to be done to confirm this.

It seems that that line is the star system you last were at from my experiences, so if that was your base, then you're pretty lucky. I think the best option would be to suck it up and follow that line, as it appears the cords you went to were multiple giga parsecs away from your home.

In your starbound folder there should be a folder called "universe" with world files in it. I think the first two numbers on each of the world files are the coordinates of systems you have already visited, so try going to the coordinates in that list to find your original planet. Hope that helps!

The file path if you don't know is: /steam/steamapps/common/Starbound/universe
