Closed Lost gear and important items (Help please!!)

Just followed some instructions on the diagnostics how to stop steam compatibility and just lost a load of my gear and lost the console in the ship that holds items which had a lot of important gear in. Is there a way on how to restore this because I'm really frustrated about this

 

Sadly no, if you backed-up your .shipworld and .world files before this update, you could attempt to restore from a backup, otherwise they're lost forever.

 

OK thanks I guess, I will have to start a new character yet again because I need that ship locker.
