    I've mined the core on several worlds. For me it seems the largest veins are located there, so no big thing to dig straight down with a few thousand dirt to mine the core with. I preferr dirt becasue its fast to mine. My only problem with that is pokin a hole in the wall to let the lava back in. >.>

    -EDIT haven't played all weekend though becasue of the update that's incoming
