Would have been a lot faster using an easy to break block, probably. But I plan to do something similar to this if its possible still in full release of the game.

Saying today is a weird thing.

To some people, It's 6:00 in the morning and in which case it will probably be wiped today. To others it's 11:00 at night, So it's not happening today.

 

How do we know you didn't just dig both ways slightly off screen and then place some cobblestone to make it look like you were finally reaching your endpoint?

It's an estimation. I'm not running around like I'm some prophet confirming the exact moment the patch releases. Tiy said in a few days 4 days ago. It's safe to say it's coming soon.
