Longing of the Console Port

    So its been a few years now and still no Starbound on the PS4 as promised back in 2013 with the date of Dec 4th. I would like to restart if not fuel this fire. Over the years I know there have been bugs all kinds of wipes and updates. So was this back burner-ed because of these development issues/progressions? Or was it MS being dirty saying they want in as well and holding things up? Or has Chuckle Fish just given up on Porting it to systems out side of personal computers? I and about 150 people in my circle would love to know. So ask all of you here would you still like to see it ported to Console/('s)? Also to the power's that be I ask why has this not happened yet? You have an amazing game it should be out there in every format for every person. So with this said I'd like to get your feedback on this and hopefully see the day come soon for Starbound to be on every Console and handheld.

    I really hope it ends up being ported, and I think a good time to start porting it would be after the release of version 1.0

    The game isn't getting out of BETA yet, and although I almost always think a game should get out of BETA before being ported, I don't think we'll be getting a console port this year for it if so... maybe not even in the coming years...

    Moved to Starbound Discussion, since the Off-Topic subforum isn't related to the game at all.

    I asked Molly about this some months ago, and she said that they would be looking into a PS4 port post-1.0. I wouldn't expect any announcements for a while yet, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

    Well this is good to know thanks Jonesy. I do under stand the Beta conflict but its such a great game. I've built so many planets up and lost them (though not recently) with build updates and still love it, its that good. I think a lot of us who see the beauty in this game except that, with it being still in beta and all. This is what makes me think that the love would be there on console also. Sure like every where there would be some negative Nelly's but loads of love as well. Though as a gamer with promises set and the delay it feel like a broken promise at this point. With the roughly 6 year mark for new consoles and rounding the corner to the last 36+ months left on the clock. I get a mixture of disappointment and excitement, as I play on PC I know what the struggle is to fix bugs, do updates as the programming closes in on completion of other elements in the game and how vast and wonderful the world of Starbound is. But I don't always have a computer on me, I do how ever always have my PS-Vita in my pocket and would love to have Starbound at the ready no mater the time or the place. It just makes me sad that that day is not here yet. Any who my fingers are crossed in hopes that maybe this year is that year. To the games programmers and development team keep up the great work your doing.

    Great now I'm going to have to buy a X1 hahahaha. Thanks Kezeal I must have missed it on the forum but yes thanks. I have to add as sad as this sounds this game is the only reason I'd buy a X1 hahahah. I'm far from a fan of MicroSoft so this would be a huge win lose for me on a personal level.

    on one hand, i have no issue with the thought of a console port. on the other, i feel the priority should be to get the pc version done quickly and with as much polish as possible first. with a small dev team (which i assume chucklefish has working on SB, since they are 12 people (according to wikipedia), and this isn't the only game they're working on) you have to spend your resources wisely...and i feel that the pc version is where their time would best be spent, at least until it's at release quality. even after the 1.0 hits, i'm still hopeful that they keep working on new features and refining the game as a whole...but yeah, they did show off an x1 version...and ps4 and x1 both run on x86 architecture, so (though i'm not a programmer myself) i'd assume that once they get one done, it should be relatively simple to also port it to the other console.
