Race Locusts(Playable insect race)

INTRODUCING
The Locusts, a playable race for Starbound​

History of the Locusts​

Locusts are aspired to be powerful economic leaders of their own planet Cicada. However, despite the surface claims for their success they were often detested by the man other societies for their inhumane treatments and tyrannic ambitions for success. One of their historical scars that label them as the anarchists of today is the development of their E.N.M.C (Energetic Nectar Manufacturing Corporate), one of the largest processing plants for vitalization production. Though it may seem that this large corporate held legitimate claims for their processing industries they truly were conducting extreme unethical movements such as the enslaving of florians and mass experimenting of nectar production drugs. Unfortunately despite large successes, humanitarian groups led by other races form a coalition and decided to shut down their entire industry a long with their "planet" by force. Throughout the next 3 decades, the Locusts suffered political downfall, systematic plagues and war starvation forcing them into absolute subterfuge. ​

The Locusts We Know Today​

Locusts have gathered resources and recovered from aerial attacks and along with the peace treaty signed with the societies outside their domain, the Locusts now flourish as a media and entertainment driven society hosting the largest casinos and clubs well known by the richest or the most corrupted associates of each planet. Cicada now a heavily supported ball of steel and colorful lights serve nothing more than a social hub for many other races as well as a cosmopolitan trade center for commerce and military design. As for illegal activities, Cicada is now a civil domain that one can dwell in if he/she has an exceptional amount of wit as the Locusts have yet to conduct any criminal activity AS WE KNOW OFF (HINT).​

Locusts are known to have tall slender anatomies. (Trying to be accurate to the actual anatomy of a locust while keeping that humanoid feel to it)​

Cicadian Technology​

One would expect a society of people to be at the bottom of the development index after warfare and political poverty- He/she would be damn wrong about it...damn well wrong. Locusts are known to be the most ambitious in grounds of technology crafting their finest weaponry and utilities through the harshest work environments. Most weapons are made from salvaged metals and fabrications from the ruins of their previously existing terrarium and most of these weapons follow 2 straight rules: "the larger the clip, the more fun we have violating the corpse with friggin' lead", "Bike handles are goddamn sexy as hell"." These two rules often give their technology a whole new level of nostalgia. Vehicles are often described to be "chopperific", architectural structures described to be "Star Capone's basement" and weapons labelled as "high quality [starfia] arsenal." (If you guys haven't figured out, this race is inspired by gang/hard-knock culture)​

Guns and Chetes​

​

-Carbine SMG's are known for having an abnormally large clip. Along with sheer BASTARD STRENGTH build up by high fire rates, this gun allows its user to fire this weapon like a scared mother f- and still have some ammo left over to shoot in a smiley face in the chest of his/her foe. ​

~ 500-600 Rounds of munition depending on manufactuer​

-Stock Machetes are known for supplying endless nights of family fun- for Cicadian kids with pumped up hicks. This machete works like a searing blow torch which requires one canister of gas loaded into the handle bar which can fire this bad boy up for at least 7 hours. The machete also has 2 bike guards that can triggered to unravel bad ass killing effects. Left bike guard: If you want to take your fancy clothes to the dry cleaner next morning hun'. Right bike guard: if you love seeing poor animals run a few miles before dying of blood loss. ​

~ Left Click: extends the blade a few feet away from the user, good for crowd control skewerin' ​

~ Right Click: ejects the blade that will levitate to the direction the user aims at and will slowly fade a way the longer it travels. The velocity of the ejected blade will be slow as it will serve as a "guided DOT attack."​

-Carbon Myre Limited addition Levi-Choppers are choppers...in space... self explanatory no?​

-Yes I drew those and I'm not the best drawer in the world. Also if you're about to post something regarding humanoids being overdone. I'll tell you this straight up- I don't give a flying funnel as humanoids are a lot better looking for a game like this. ​

You're a very good artist, and I love the idea, and the look of them. I really hope these are put into the game.

 

Thanks, I really wanted to make a pop culture reference to this race so we can all recognize certain features of them and chuckle about it.

 

Excellent idea, and you have quite a talent for drawing! You should perhaps change their name, "locusts" are the main ennemies in Gears of War y'know. Make it slightly more original, something like... I don't know, Locksters, Locustians, Locans, etc.

This is pretty cool, tho the Radio Transmitting organ probably have no effect in-game.

 

Oh wow, this is amazing, I wouldn't even be able to offer suggestions of criticisms.

Though I'm not sure how the radio transmitting organ would be used in game...

And that bike, I want to use that, I want to use that right flippin now!

 

I'd make the tail smaller though, since you want to fit all the classy fashion stuff on them. Also radio transmitting organ is just a lore base explanation that people can utilize for their RP needs.

This would be an epic race. Starbound has almost all the basic races but this one is a needed one. So... Fish,Human,Ape,Bird,Robo,Plant and now incests. This is a must have race keep up the good work.

Avian, Locust, Human, Hylotl, Floran, Apex

The race is cool and its similar to what I had in mind for an insect race. The radio-transmitting organ makes them look a bit like sharks. Can't say I'm fond of it.

 

Wow am I ever impressed. Wonderful job on both the art and lore. There's a few race suggestions that won't quite fit, but I'd be shocked if an idea this cool doesn't get put in.

 

This is really fantastic, I wholeheartedly hope your vision comes to fruition.
I think they'd fit a niche of a race that specializes in ballistics based weaponry, being sneaky, or just plain underhanded or sly at times.

Have you considered making them a bit more 'buggy' maybe with more insect like features, perhaps compound eyes or external mouth parts?

Also made some different color variations for the armor or whatever it is they're wearing.
