Well sense the dungeons are going to start out not being able to be mined, I think locked doors and keypads would be a great addition to them. Maybe hide a key or a code number somewhere in the dungeon and the player has to find it to get to the dungeon core that protects it from being mined. (The dungeon protection is mentioned on the road map I'm pretty sure. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Hm, thats a good idea. To build off of it, I think that a room at the lowest point in the dungeon should contain a powerful monster or "Dungeon Guardian" that has the key or code, or is the key/code it's self and the dungeon can be mined upon it's death. It could varry from dungeon to dungeon.
Ya know, other then just personal use on this one. It would be a really awesome idea to see implemented in certain kind of dungeon's as well. Like that prison we've seen a few teasers about. Edit: Well darn, just wound up repeating what others have said in this post.
It would be cool if there was a special door that to enter it takes a little bit of 'You' to get into... Like you loose some of your health and then you can enter the door...
I like the idea. In regards to privacy; i think there should be a line-of-sight fog for when you're inside of a structure, which disables people on the outside from looking in if they're not at a window.
This is a great idea, but isn't this already in the game? Skip to 00:44 [links to YT videos at specific times seems broken].
Those don't actually do anything. He could have opened the door as normal (or even mined it open). The eye and hand scanners do nothing but light up or dim when you touch them (with "E")
i think it would be alot of work to add protection to all the old blocks if so i think the could make a password'ed locked door and a block that can only be destroyed by the player that layed it no check box required. so players can place it at the spawn area and lock unwanted people from the planet. titanium player keycode door // can be destroyed only by creator titanium player wall // can be destroyed only by creator keycode pannel // cant be destroyed but accessed by all and wireing can only be edited by creator.
Locking doors/blocks/objects from player access (like the plan to do with dungeons) for player homes/forts/towns would be/should be a great feature. Actually being able to set up a locked "shack" for teleporting in and out of... pure genius. I'd love to be able to claim a planet as my own.
for some reason, some people wants to throw tomatoes at you. But I must say that I like your idea, you really can't trust people these days on the servers... they're people dammit! we can't trust- *shot*
With a few friends on a private server it isn't too huge of a deal (though I'd like to still be able to keep them out/keep them from destroying/taking my stuff) but this game would be absolutely amazing with a ton of people on a public server EXCEPT for the issue of them being able to destroy and take my things. A locking door separating the teleporter room from the rest of the ship would make it so people could ride with you/join your ship and beam down but not do anything on it beyond that.
The main thing I want to use this for is to protect my ship's cockpit and main room. Think about it, if people beam onto your ship, they need you to open the door to actually be able to do anything.
How about a simple number keypad type of thing? Press E to activate a little popup type window with a numpad and enter code to enter. On the griefing part: how about just letting us place items that can't be dug out by other players? Let me designate a specific area as mine, stake a claim so to speak, and let only me build and destroy there. I could only designate one area, and it would need to be x meters apart from other users/user's structures.
Neat idea. Glad I searched before I posted an idea similar to this. But can't people who are resource-rich or just griefers make locked doors and place them in people's houses so the owners can't build or get around them? :L
I really like the idea of lockable door. Especially for those pesky NPCs that tend to open and close doors repeatedly. It'd also be good to keep said pesky NPCs in one room so they aren't wandering about.
