Why not do a living planet with different hostile creature ex: for planet made of plant: flytrap(don't move) , space bee(flying), ent(foot soldier), ant(foot soldier), mushroom(don't move and spitt)... boss: the heart (don't move ,create mobs and spitt) . he spawn at the center of the planet . for giant octopus: cuttlefish (flying) , giant tentacle( don't move), ink spitter(don't move and spitt), giant octopus mouth(don't move and spitt)... boss: the octopus (don't move, spitt and create mobs) (he got a giant giant octopus mouthand a lot of giant giant tentacle) . He spawn on a sid of the planet t ( made of plant or a giant octopus) ?, gentile creature ex: for planet made of plant: little mushroom(roam) ,flower(roam), swarm(roam, neutral(he can hit you when you are near they)) plant deer (roam),tree(roam) ex for giant octopus: (i don't know) liquids: ex: for plant planet :water, sap(plant blood)(yellow sticky liquids) ex: for giant octopus:water, blood (red liquids), bile ( green poisonnus liquids) gas: ex: for plant planet: spore(green gaz) when you are in, a breath bar appear ex:for giant octopus: fart ( ) an explosive gaz ore: ex for plant planet: vine, seed, flower, bone(of poor visitor)... ex for giant octopus, organ, heart, skin,meat... structure: ex for plant planet: giant flower , giant mushroom ... ex for giant octopus : octopus hat, beak ( after beat the octopus) ,stomach(caution! large area of bile) when you kill the boss of the planet, the planet die. the effect is: no mobs spawn all of ore, liquid despawn young has young . you have a journey for leave the planet or you will die by the explosion of the planet end for the moment thanks drayo10
While I'm certainly not a fan of levels where you waltz around in another creatures digestive fluids, the concept of living planets is actually pretty cool. What effects would happen upon killing off the heart of these planets, though? I can imagine the lack of a vital organ can't be too nice on the planet. And though I'm no moderator, I'd like to ask you to try and summarize what you're talking about into one post the next time you get an idea. Don't get me wrong though, it's a good idea.
Another idea would be a "Boss planet". Imagine when you get an image of the planet you see that it have a mouth and some eyes. And you hae to destroy parts of it. Internal and external, so it will die. And of course this parts would defend themselfs and would have defender creatures and stuffs.
a boss planet is a good idea why not a giant eater of planet or a big meteor or a giant hive of bee an angry sun
A living planet sounds pretty nice to me actually. The planet though should still look like a planet in my opinion, its just that its a giant sentient being but unlike non sentient planets, it would have stuff in its outer and inner layers that act as all its different part parts and functions. The stuff that lives on it could pretty much be like micro organisms to the planet itself. Some with good function for the planet, others with harmful ones. Like something that acts as white blood cells and helpful bacteria, and something that acts as a virus or or a disease to the living planet. Also since we are talking about a living thing, obviously it should have things that are pests such ash some insect types or something.
Usually when you kill a living planet, the structure would switch more to decay, and any symbiotic relationships that were formed would fall apart. Creatures on the planet would either die almost immediately, or adapt to the new environment, usually towards being more dangerous as resource types change or become nonexistent.
I like this idea. I think it would also be cool if there was a planet like House from Doctor Who (Season 6, Episode 4) where it can mess around with you and taunt you.
I've seen multiple ideas floating about for planet-sized organisms. It's certainly a good idea though I'm not sure it'd work specifically for this. They could probably pull it off though, I've been proven wrong multiple times before. There is a tentacle world, it may indeed be a living planet.
I think a living planet could work well. Elements could include a layer of dirt/dead cells on the outside, with spore based life growing from it. Eventually when digging down you could eventually find porous, living planet matter, with various peculiar liquids in reservoirs deep inside, blood, bile, acid, the like. On the surface, as suggested in another thread, there could be large bodies of water that are actually massive amoebic lifeforms, extensions of the planet that work as a digestive system for the planet's extremely slow metabolism. Being a planet, it would have more life than just itself. Any large lifeform is host to any number of parasites, that could well see you as a tasty meal just as much. And occasionally while digging, the hero might come across a nerve cluster that causes the planet to produce an immune response to attack the player when struck. A living planet would work well if done as a colony of living organisms that are symbiotically bonded together to survive, like a portugese man-o-war. Perhaps tech could be researched to allow you to talk to the planet's "Mind". Maybe it would ask you to do favors for it, kill infestations of parasites, or it might well grow hostile and tell you to leave. Perhaps it would invite you to make your home on it, as it been dreadfully lonely. (I could imagine research bonuses to a base planted on a friendly living planet)
or you could be approaching a planet and it swallows you up and you got to go around and take out the body parts part by part
Though one thing I feel is essential: Living planets, as cool as they are, should never be very big. A smaller planet size would make more sense to me, but then again... science fiction! Another idea would be that, rather than the entire planet be alive, there is merely a gargantuan living thing under the surface, controlling the entire world with telekinesis and telepathy, giving the impression that a normally unliving planet is actually a genius loci.
