As I am currently thinking most about this Idea I would like to share the theorie of this Idea without pictures at first. There is many time the question why someone should play a game, and this question can often times be solved by the awesomness of the game it´s community or just the genre. Even though startbound combines all of them I am sure we could approach another group of people with introducing an old school idea never implemented in a game to add the tag "Educational game" and give some hard loads of fun to hardcore players. I am talking about the life on an humounges organism in the sense of that you live on a planet (or dungeon) that actually is fighting back. The enviorement is regenerating itself and treats the player as a foreign cell (parasite) that needs to be destroid. Of course the player can get a peaceful life on the surface of the body when adapting to the DNA of the body (by crafting a armor of the planets [bodys] material) so that the surface protecting cells[random created monsters] kind of accept you. Still you may want to proceed to the center of the planet [body] to get precios material with loads of benefits (temperatur keeping, protecting etc.) but the deeper you get inside the more defense you get to fight and finally there will be created antybodys against you. The life of a parasite isn´t easy since the body is regenerating itself when not properly approached (e.g. if you dig inside the skin it will eventually close itself over time and rebuild, but if you burn through your hole [wound] is open longer. This kind of Idea is very compremised descriped I just want to hear if I should invest more time into it or if you think this Idea is brainwashed stuff that is unimplementable. I´ll possibly just post some inspirations from old games and serieses that can be usefull to picture what I mean until I draw something (Im not a gamedesigner or anything fancy though) First one is super ghouls n ghosts where at one point in this classical super game you get inside a nasty body and get to travel through the digestive system of this huge freak. From 10:15 to 12:55 Next one is (I know I should not know about it right but it is a useful source) Jimmy Neutron when he gets inside the body. Feel free to watch the whole story and learn something (Im such a nerd (-8 ). From 2:55 to 4:57 Obviosly we as the players don´t get shrinked but those huge planetlike Mobs are flying around (could be that they eat planets or stars [getting realy late here should go to bed]) Obviosly we could than start with living on the outer skin layer of this thing or even in the mouth (tooth material and caries as our first explorations). Let me know what you think, and if I should bring this Idea to paper. Greetings and God bless the reader Earnold the faithfull
the tentacle planet would be considered living because there are massive tentacles crashing out of the surface
Yes this looks a whole new layer of content and UNIQUE feeling of exploration. Indeed the tentacle planet looks awesome already
I keep thinking of that one Calvin and Hobbes Strip with Spaceman Spiff, traveling over a planet, only to discover it's a giant alien's bed.
The nice thing would be that the whole enviorement is just on the purpose of destroy whatever you build and get you out of the inner [bodys] layers since you are not welcome there. You think it is not necessary to continue in this direction of thinking? I´ll stop it and look forward to the tentacle world.
