Half jokes aside it does have a slight pause after the buildup, that is a faint rebuildup before it starts going that could use something.

 

Sounds like another variation of the pre-order "experimental" soundtrack song under the name "Desert Battle 2", which is just a sped up/remixed version of Desert Exploration 1 from the Lighting Demo trailer.



Which is cool, it's one of my favorite themes along with Artic Battle 1

Hm it has a nice western feel to it, quite nice.

Personally though, ill wait till the finished product is out and published. Content is subject to change and having the unfinished version on your youtube is a bit meh. Ide wait till its done and relreased legitimantly. This sort of thign is how illegal piracy happens. hah. People paid for the soundtrack afterall.

 

I am like....fangasming over this like seriously i am dying to play it more now than ever before! the game can't be released fast enough

Didn't feel western to me at all. Felt more eastern with some twangy... I forget what the instrument is, but this video from kung Fu Hustle has it. The musical styling isn't exactly traditional Chinese, but it doesn't feel identifiable western to me either.
I'll enclose some fairly iconic western movie music below.

I personally like it. People keep complaining that there are oriental influences in the music. That's actually authentic to a scary degree. There were so many Chinese in what we call the Wild West, immigrating through California, working our mines, and building the rail roads that made settling those areas of our country possible, that their music definitely had an influence on the earliest versions of Western music. This stuff is pretty damn impressive, if he's doing that intentionally.

The banjo is very close to Japanese koto. Maybe add in some Spanish guitar.

 

I'm pretty sure it's the whole "cowboys in space" thing since Firefly is also pretty much cowboys in space.

In the video, it says East/West Samples, so an Asian influence is probably intended.
