    Planets.

    • Light worlds
This planet or planets would consist of multiple suns (2 or more suns? This planet would have little to no water. The creatures that live here would be highly dependent on water and would be extremely armored to deal with the harsh suns. on planets like this water could act to spawn monsters because life for all that we know is highly dependent on water to survive and as such attracts life to it. Also some ores found on this planet would give off light if brought to another world because of there constant bombardment of sun rays they have become radio active and glow at all times.
    • Sun worlds
similar to the light worlds idea but with a large difference. A close sun means that darkness is your only safe haven but when sun comes up the planet starts to burn. Fire starts to rains from the sky and you dig down to live. On this planet you will find underground cities. black burnt crust on planet. We can even take it farther and have a temperature meter. If your character is to hot or cold, he takes damage and dies at extreme temperatures.
    • Dark worlds
(no sun) no moon for if there is no sun the moon would not be visible. To even see on this planet you have to bring a light source of your own. Creatures here would be attracted to the light whale others are blind and cannot see your light. and even some of them glow.(think glowing fish in the deep oceans) On this planet light could even be a weapon. (beware the night) for your darkest and most destructive dreams come to life here.
    • night/ice world (Drcthulhu)
when sun gos down the planet freezes over. player takes damage unless he makes fire or get off the planet. Long nights and short days. DrCthulhu said
"something of a night/ice world. You can survive during the day with the small and distant sun so very far away. During the night, it is nearly unbearable. You have to create a fire or dig to center of the world to keep yourself warm with the heat of the core. We can even take it farther and have a temperature meter. If your character is to hot or cold, he takes damage and dies at extreme temperatures. This could be implemented to make deserts deadly. "
    • Junk worlds.
(trash planets):alien: places were all trash ends up even the trash of society. The planet would have robots with no weapons or joke weapons. things would explode if touched and nothing on this planet would work well. also on this planet would be some gremlin like creature. braking everything it gets it mists on. The planet would be unstable and trash literally rains from the sky here. don't stand in one place to long or be buried alive. this planet has been a dump and is bombarded with trash from other worlds. junk. last Wednesdays leftovers. even people get thrown away here. the junk of the universe.
    • Water
already being placed in game. Also think Atlantis we were talking about them adding it into Terraria now waiting for it in starbound. A fully liquid planet with fish men living here.
    • Fire (sun)
stepping foot onto suns. Players need a heavy really armored suit to live on it. It can not be mined but Can be explored. more of a semi solid mass that if you stand in place to long you start to sink.
    • Ice (you know)
In game already but how about even a planet that freezes you over if Players do Not bring a fire suit Or heated suits. The sun is very far away from this planet so days are short and nights are long.
    • Lava
(ash, tar, Lava, you know what it mean) volcanic eruptions happen here hourly and because of that the planet never looks the same twice. the map regenerates every visit. and as such you must be careful. highly unstable planets.
    • Asteroid world.
(need space suit or you will die no Oxygen) no gravity or very little. you can jump from one chunk of rock to another. A planet was once here now nothing but ruble remains.
    • Air world.
Floating mountains, all creatures fly here because if you fall you die. large valleys that have poison in them so you need a better suit to live on these. most life forms sty on the cliffs and out of the valleys (flying mountains from the movie avatar.)
    • ANCIENT PYRAMIDS AND TOMBS
One of the things we’ve noticed is that in the backgrounds of some of the planets there are ancient structures. What if on these planets there are actual ancient structures you can enter. Some can be easy to find like a giant pyramid while others can be buried deep within the ground that you just stumble upon. These structures would be similar to Terraria’s Dungeon except it would be riddled with traps, have no infinite spawning enemies, could range in size from huge (takes up most of planet) to tiny (just a room) and there can be multiple on a planet.
      [*]
There would be a wide variety of traps:
      •Dart traps
      •Spear traps
      •Floor that breaks into pitfalls
•Wall crushers •Sand or acid filling room
•Trap that causes the collapse of all or part of structure
•Trap that releases locust or enemies
      [*]
The tomb might not even have any traps at all and could be very linear. The enemies (if any) would be the ancient guardians that are patrolling the structure for millenniums. The dungeon won’t be scattered with treasure like in Terraria, however when you reach the end, it will most likely have some sort of great reward. But watch out because you might have to fight a boss protecting it (the lizard pharaoh or the alien emperor ect). Another possibility is that after you defeat the boss or claim the treasure, the whole structure will begin to collapse and you must make it back to the surface while dodging debris and rocks and hopefully not getting trapped beneath the ruins.

    • Hollow world
Thin crust no corr. Dig to deep fall to your death. little to no life on a planet like this. The remnants of an ancient civilization exist and you find out that the cor of this planet had been mind clean and they moved to another planet.
    • low-tech, Hi-tech,
worlds full of those kinds of people. cavemen and robots. Even a mixed population on some planets. a floating sky islands with hi-tech population but on the surface a very primitive and stupid people.
    • STEALTH Fields
you can hid planets on a larger server but takes a lot of time and money to do this. Planets hidden this way are more likely to have better chests and items.
    • SHIELD WORLDS
(planets in a large dome shield to prevent invasion.) Takes more to get to a planet like this.
    vehicles
I feel no need to explain these ideas for they are so basic that you should have a concept just from there idea.
    • Drill car /drill (digs thew the earth)
    • submarine
    • space ships
    • boats
    • small planes... faster travel on planets
    • mec
    • Spider car.(all terrain even the ceiling and walls)
    • Lava boats
    • Snowmobiles
    • ATV's
    • hovercraft
    • land speeders
    • Tanks
    • Truck (on person drives 3 people gun)
    • Hover board *by Frozen*
    Creatures.:raccoon:

    • Shadows.
scared of light hid in the corners your light will not hit. stalk you in the dark. any light and they run however they cannot go into the walls they can only hid around corners so you can make them run until you trap and burn them away with your light
    • The virus.
infects a planet takes it over kills it. moves to next planet. you have to fight to keep it from killing all the creatures. (That's why you catalog them all.)
    • Metal men of doom.
Iron men with cheese based technology. there leader is a god. They have a planet made of cheese and they have cows everywhere. ( I made this army as a joke on a form and it became a full fledged army of posters.)
    • Things to look at.
    • the Borg.
    • Dinosaurs.
    • Samurai
    • Prates
    • Robots.
    • Knights
    Mechanics
    • Quick sand (sink in it you die)
    • sand physics
Sand should be a more or less semi solid state. sand itself cannot move if its by itself it shouldn't move. However if there is a larger pile of it it should be pushed out words to rest as more of a pile then a stack. This would make it much more dangers and difficult to mine thew. If a player is worried about digging into the side and having it spill onto him it would cause them to dig around it.
    • Tall grass type****
This grass will be as tall as the player’s neck. The grass will be on a layer in front of the player meaning that enemies can be hidden behind the grass layer. It could also slow down movement speed making it an obstacle for the player and can be cut down by using a sharp tool or weapon.
    • Mining Improvments****
One of the problems with Terraria was that mining downward was much easier then mining horizontally, which realistically is the opposite. This was because your character was 2 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall which means mining downward is 1/3 easier then mining sideways. This will be even more of a problem in Starbound because it looks like your character is 4 blocks tall (although its been stated that you will be able to crouch but you will probably still be 3 blocks tall).
      1. A solution to this would be to make it so when a player is standing on a block it is 3-5 times harder to mine it out. This would make it so mine shafts are more interesting and would probably go down on more of an incline instead of just straight downward.
      2. People may be able to bypass this by mining the blocks under the ones there standing on to make it a bit easier, so a fix to this could be to prevent pickaxes from mining blocks that are under other blocks.
    • Floods
    • Lava floods
    • Meteors (kills populations you have to go help save)
    • Colors flashlights
    • x-ray light.
Lets the player see past a few closer blocks to look deeper in blocks. (good for digging) (you can also look into chests, maby some chests could have monsters in them instead of gold. ) lets players see into themselves for fun.
    • Buster call. Planet strike. blows up a planet you don"t want. KILL IT WITH FIRE AND RAIN DEATH. (+1 if you know what this is )
    • Armor locking stops movement for amazing shields.
    • A dome shield. protect your teammates more then yourself.
    • Players can be robots and Aliens. Not just human.
    Game modes

    • Built in defend turret game
    • players at war
(Faction of players on one server (red vs blue) spreading out taking over other worlds. until you find the world your opponent controls and destroy it. It's a large very populated server with thousands at war.) large pvp games.
    Factions.

    • Multiple races living together.
    • Army at war factions latter hard modes factions form wars will brake out.
    • Making alliances with factions.
    • space command runs around in larger multy player servers it would be safe zones were no player killing is allowed and if you do some how kill some one command will come get revenge.
    Item

:redpanda: Vanity FOX MASK:redpanda: . (must have)

    • ****Make your own vanity for players. A pixel art pad in game to draw as best you can what you want for somethings. It would include a stencil peace for a brace look of a item and you can improve it. I have had a lot of feedback on this idea. I really would think a vanity item based pixel making item.
    • silly string.
No damage but hardens and becomes solid ground. good for capturing creatures. Can like shape (a bridge over the lava) lasts 5 min. the best multipurpose tool for explorers.
    • Silly string slime
(spray sticks to ground) traps things (glue) sprays like a bad water gun in every direction. could get stuck in players hands for a few min.
    • Foam grenade
Expands and seals a tunnel or door. keeps things from chasing you. one time use. last a few min. good item to use on friends:devil: ^_^
    • nets
lazier nets. rope nets. trap anything.
    • Grappling Hooks. *by Frozen*
    Research********************
    Self constructing structures

    : Level 1 - Platforms****
    • Place down a special block that extends 5-15 blocks horizontally or vertically. Can be used for making fast bridges and walls
Level 2 - Deployable Bases (or anything else)****
    • This is for copying unique structures and building them somewhere else. What you do is trace the perimeter of the structure you want to copy (might be a size limit you have to research or use more energy for bigger areas) then it will save the blueprint of the building to be used multiple times.

    • The blueprint will tell you all the materials it’s made out of (for things like doors, computers and furniture inside the building, you just need to gather copies of those) and then when all the materials are gathered, it will give you the option of combining them all into a single deployable base block.

    • This block will show you the outline of the structure and it can only be built in empty areas on the ground. When you place the deployable base block down it will start constructing itself at a rate of 3 blocks per second.

    Level 3 - Compacting****

    • This is meant for players who want to transport their bases faster by compacting their old deployable base back into the base block. It will compact at the same rate it was built.
    Level 4 – Mass converter****
    • This upgrade makes it a lot easier to create a base block. Instead of gathering each type of material for the blueprint, you can use any type. For example all you need is dirt to create a deployable base made out of wood and metal.
    • This will not work on things like furniture, doors etc. If you mine out the blocks from the mass converted base they will revert back to the material it was made out of.
    PLANETARY POST PATCH PREVENTION
It is obvious that after release there will be more content and patches added to the game. Rather than the developers adding a separate part of the universe for the new content (Different planet types, bio-mes, enemies, themes, biology, block types) they will most likely integrate it into the planetary formula which will add all the new elements into the same universe. The problem with this however is that the worlds that you’ve taking a liking to prior to the patch (such as your home-world) would get changed as well.

A solution to this would be to have the game record every planet you have visited in the past and prevent the patch from making changes to those worlds on that server. This shouldn’t cause any problems because the universe is so big in this game that no one would even go on 1% of the planets. If this is too difficult then it can just prevent the patch on planets you bookmarked or even just your home-world.

This is mostly meant for visual updates. Game changing mechanics, changing AI, fixing exploits, and player changing patches would override this.

These are some of the things me and my Friend have thought up. I will update as we think about more.
hope you guys like some of these if I see anything I like ill add with your name on the list.

    Thanks for Reading

Perhaps overgrown jungle worlds/lush plant worlds.

Great ideas! Although I SERIOUSLY doubt a server could hold 1000 people and survive...

Good ideas!:) Maybe some sort of oasis-themed planet, where it would be desert everywhere except around the oasis.

I really like the sun worlds idea, but we can take it farther and make it be something of a night/ice world. You can survive during the day with the small and distant sun so very far away. During the night, it is nearly unbearable. You have to create a fire or dig to center of the world to keep yourself warm with the heat of the core. We can even take it farther and have a temprature meter. If your character is to hot or cold, he takes damage and dies at extreme temperatures. This could be implemented to make deserts deadly.

    Things I really like:
-light, ice, air, burning, and dark worlds
    -stealth fields
    -x-ray light
    -spider vehicles
    -armor locking
    -dome shields, especially these!

Things I don't like so much:
    -players at war
-hollow worlds, this severely limits the resource capacity of a world, something I don't like as much

    Possible changes?:
-Not just pirates, but space pirates! Maybe you already meant this, but here it is!
-Hollow worlds: A world inside a world. The inner world is usually prehistoric but may be far advanced than the race on the surface.

    Just my thoughts though.

Maybe if you could be able to save your vanity art to a file and share it on the community that would be great because people that have trouble with pixel art could request from other people. Like myself!

Well It would be mostly Vanity things you can make. even some kind of vanity gun tool. letting you make a look for a gun (a custom gun). I also wanted this so i can make my fox mask if need be.....^_^:giggle:X3

Yeah that would be great. To me it wouldn't matter if it's vanity or not. As long as we have the ability to import/make pixel art that would normaly not be possible due to copyright issues. I just would love to see something like a Gundam outfit or like a Samus Aran outfit :giggle:..or even run around looking like a Veritech Fighter...oh..the possibilites are endless X3
