  1. Every time I read this, I get more excited for the game. :)
I hope we get more information on the Space Stations soon, we're kinda "in the dark" about them right now.

I agree. Space Stations are cool :rainbow:

  3. You betcha.
And I hope the Space Stations are like a "base-of-operations", so there will be lots of buttons to push.

Terraria had no item durability, though weapons still needed ammunition. I'm expecting Starbound to follow a somewhat similar idea.

Good point, I suppose that would work. I personally like durability, If a weapon breaks (Completely) It forces you to create a new one, Thus giving you more value for mining ores, knowing you'll need them once your items need repair. Ammunition is a nice substitute though, I just blow through it really fast. :p

that's all fine and dandy, but what if some of the higher end gear requires both rare enemy drops and/or a LOT of extremely hard to find valuable ore? You spend hours collecting these resources but only get a half hour/hour of actual use time out of it. Which would mean going back to grind/farm your brains out to gather materials again. I'd sooner just focus on collecting resources to build OTHER equipment, rather than hoarding it, knowing that my latest and favorite weapon is going to break on me all too soon. I'm pretty certain Tiy was thinking the same thing, as he's stated item durability ultimately leads to busy work. That's not particularly fun.

  11. Something that should be added
The Space Station will be damaged at the beginning of the game, and throughout the game you will have to repair it. Perhaps this will make it so certain features aren't available until later on in the game. (Think Samus' suit being damaged at the beginning of Metroid Prime)

I like that idea a lot better. Either way I'm going to enjoy the game to the extreme lol.

I'm hoping that's how it's going to be because I love the thought of slowly unlocking content and restoring the ship. Plus it adds an extra level of progressive unlocks that you work for.

  14. I like slow progression. It keeps you addicted to the game, saying "I'm SO close to unlocking the new Planet!". Also, games that just introduce you to all of the game's mechanics and features in the beginning can be quite overwhelming.

  15. New Info!

<@Tiy> the game will have wiring

<@Tiy> Basically the engine works like this
<@Tiy> at "run time", which is when you start the game
<@Tiy> it reads a bunch of configuration files that tell it how everything works
<@Tiy> the configuration files are super easy to write, it's not even scripting<@Tiy> For example
<@Tiy> I mentioned this once before, but I went on the internet, googled "sonic the hedgehog sprite sheet"
<@Tiy> I mentioned this once before, but I went on the internet, googled "sonic the hedgehog sprite sheet"
<@Tiy> took the first sprite sheet I could find
    <@Tiy> downloaded it
<@Tiy> wrote a config file, took me 10 minutes total?
<@Tiy> then I had sonic running around the world

Sounds nice. I've never had enough patience to learn scripts in Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights editors. Hope it'll be even simpler.
