    Movement and Physics -
    • Slopes have been implemented, and this allows much more free/fluid movement for players and things like vehicles.
    • Aiming is handled with the mouse, with WASD being movement.
    • Liquid physics beyond water have been planned. This includes acid, and oil which will be all 'goopy'.
    • No falling damage is in the current Dev build, but they plan to add it. It wont be limited to just players suffering from it, enemies will also be hurt by it.
    • Water will have pressure, so if too much water is spawned in a small area, it will shoot out when a hole is made by the player. This of course means you should be careful when digging out a water pocket.
    • Water will equalize.

This concerns me i know that i will be purchasing the game come pre-order/release but the movement keys are not my typical key binds. You see i use my left hand for the mouse and the arrows keys, numpad keys, right ctrl, right shift, delete, end, page down keys to do my game play with. I used these keys in terraria and minecraft and will hope that some sort of control switch option will be available upon release. Some games that i would really enjoy to play have been a major let down because gaming companies don't take note in the way some people use their mouse and keyboard. I hope you take what i said into consideration for us lefty's i can guarantee it will be one of the most major feature i look at before deciding my final option to purchase the game.

Another thing is the beta testing thing the whole become well known thing to be picked should be scraped and a first come first serve should be implemented giving each person a fair chance to earn a spot in a beta test if there will be one. Usually a register email to attempt to become a lucky individual who gets the chance to play in the beta would be a better idea. I am not a forum fan i am a game fan and with that in mind i stick to a game rather than it's forums. I should not have to be a active member on the forums to get a opportunity to play in the beta for any game. I love the updates that are given i will provide feedback that is currently being posted but i will not actively scan the forums in hope of anything the thing's that concern me is obviously the one i posted above the price of the game and the devastating issue that was played in terraria after purchasing it and lastly a release date on this one. The one thing about terraria that concerns me is not the individual but the whole company sorry but that game was a team effort in it's development and creation so one person's mistake is everyone's mistake and given terraria was updated a few times with 1-2 major updates knowing so much more could have been done with it leaving it in my mind a unfinished product. This is where starbound play's into my concern the question's i ask myself each time i come to see a update or announcement. Will starbound end up like terraria? Will i be purchasing a game with a limited update process? Will the game after purchase ever reach completion? To be honest only you the creators ultimately know the fate in which this game has to offer now and in its future process. So if you wonder how a normal player not a complete fan thinks of the game's creation and the incident behind terraria and the concerns and questions most normal players would have there are some.

WASD + mouse are likely the default controls, because they are the defaults pretty much everywhere.
Aside from ESDF + mouse the WASD controls are simply optimal.
They have very many keys directly around your controls, making for minimal delay in hitting them.
However it'd be pretty dumb to not allow re-mapping the controls for those used to other control schemes such as left handed people.

From a developer standpoint a person who is active on the forums is more likely to stick around the community and provide feedback, as opposed to somebody the dev team doesn't really know at all.
It doesn't matter how great of a tester you are if nobody in the dev team knows it. :)

Most of Terraria's testers were people Redigit personally knew from his previous project (Some Super Mario thing), and PaperbatVG was a Youtuber who helped the game gain more followers.

I believe that the biggest flaw of Terraria is that they insisted on having tons of Vertical progression in the game.
Basically in Terraria you just constantly get the next tier of weapons and armor to fight the next tier of monsters and that's it.

I suggested many times that they go for more horizontal progression instead.
By this I mean if one area had an Ice Sword that sometimes freezes and an another area had a Fire Sword that sometimes sets monster on fire you could have given them an equal attack stat and had way more variety.
Unfortunately Terraria is all about Hallowed weapons and armor, there is very little choice.

Starbound fixes this by using the Borderlands weapon system, which means that there will be an incredible amount of variety in weaponry.
I remember often carrying 4 weapons with me in Borderlands because they were all good in different situations. :)

An another flaw Terraria has is that it got it's version of Redstone very late, and it's quite limited because crossing wires is such a pain.
I'm hoping that Starbound has a better system.

An another big downfall for Terraria is that it only has characters on the player's own computer.
Anybody can edit the files on ones own computer, no amount of anti-cheats fixes that.
For multiplayer to be even remotely secure servers need to have the option of requiring you to create a character on the server itself.
The reason Minecraft lives on is that you can't just invedit a ton of stuff and take it on a public server.

Starbound's multiplayer will likely be non-existent aside from playing with trusted friends.
Requiring you to create a new character doesn't really help much if it is still created on the player's own computer.

Terraria used to have more horizontal progression before the 1.1 major content update. Near the end game people had a choice to go with necro, shadow, hellstone or jungle armors and weapons. Which gave diffrent bonuses used in diffrent situations eg magic armor ranged armor fast sword long sword high damage sword etc. But after the patch they switched into a linear progression that the armors are flat out better. Except the hats on the new armors which few people really use. I hope Starbound wont make the same mistake.

And about the multiplayer I've read somewhere that they are trying to make as much things as possible server side and a choice when making a server to require a new character for only that server. They said that those characters will be server side so it will be near impossible or really hard to hack items onto them. ;)

Yeah, I remember the "old days", I was one of the guys on IRC, waiting for the game to launch. :)

If the bit about servers is true then that's awesome!
From what I've read they just said "a new character", but if that means "a new character to be stored on that server" then that's great news!

Don't get me wrong, playing on a passworded server with a few friends is cool, but messing around on a huge one with a hundred players is quite different.

Has it been said that console versions are a possibility? May want to add that if not.
