That was a great bunch of talking Tiy did while we were in there. You beat me to the punch with being able to post it though :p

  2. Arh, sorry. I was a bit excited to be for once a logger of this info and not just a reader.

  6. FenixR

    FenixR Cosmic Narwhal

No fog of war? Bummer i was expecting to play Age of Starbound :/

    This a joke is

  7. Hm, I hope removing the later post of WarStalkeR doesn't soil his reputation - he meant something else by the "fog of war" than what Tiy understood it as, but Tiy didn't respond to that post anymore.

  8. DarkDXZ

    DarkDXZ Phantasmal Quasar

    Seems interesting...
Now, it's time to spam Tiy's inbox ask Tiy about gameplay video they sorta promised.

  9. Lazor Llama

    Lazor Llama Scruffy Nerf-Herder

    What is fog of war?

  10. DarkDXZ

    DarkDXZ Phantasmal Quasar

That game mechanic which disallows you to see terrain you didn't see before (from what I know).
Think all those RTS - you are at first limited to some small area, and the rest is just pitch black, right?

At least I THINK this is fog of war. If it isn't , please correct me instantly.

  11. Yeah, that is correct. It is the black area that shrouds the playfield before you explore it.
Also I think it's the 'mist' that prevents you from seeing enemy movements if you don't have a line of sight to the area.

Yes, that is what is generally understood by Fog of War. But I wonder what Tiy thought it meant when WarStalkeR mentioned it.

  13. Aviakio

    Aviakio Weight of the Sky

From right after the log above:
    Code:
EliseBambi: But, yeah, Tiy; if you saw; I was crying over one station, one homeworld/server; that means I can't have my own planet to play on without the possibility of someone coming along and blowing everything up.

@Tiy: you're making too many negative assumptions about unannounced stuff

    @Tiy: chill out

    @Tiy: :)

  14. lance armada

    lance armada Phantasmal Quasar

a portal gun would be cool and slightly funny to have in this. instead of a portal gun it could be called a teleportation gun.

  15. Actually I think WarStalkeR meant to say something like if caves are dark or something, and I assume Tiy thought it meant if the overworld in general will have a fog/darkness all over it.

  16. Alexblex

    Alexblex Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Man this looks awesome! Looking for cool features.

Fog of war is generally known to be a fog that hides enemies that are out of your 'current' Line Of Sight, even if you have already been to the area already and can see the ground.
Black Mask is the completely black "haven't seen that area" yet stuff.

I would 'assume' the game will use a Light/Darkness system. If you can light an area, you will see everything in it, regardless of your LOS. Enemies however have been stated to use LOS to become aggressive.
Either way, we should wait and see just how the system works. Best not to fret over things yet, since perception can be skewed when taking a statement as it was 'worded' and not necessarily as it was 'meant'.

    CobaltSniper Void-Bound Voyager

so very many hours  i always make it a point to play with friends if i can help it because it really adds a group tactic when playing and i have ALWAYS found playing as part of a group enjoyable ^_^
that and its sweet when you can get a large structure built in a quarter of the time when you have 3-4 people helping you at a time :D boss battles are always exciting with multiple people simply because you have the boss bouncing between targets so the harder hitters can lay into it with everything they have >:D

You would be a great beta tester CobaltSniper because group play is always a buggy point of view and someone who has fun with it will just test and test snd test.

It will be very interesting to see if Tiy and Co are able to get the mish mash of 'behaviors' and 'states' to work together to create a non-buggy, replayable system.
I like the idea and I hope they get it right.
