If done right, durability can be a good thing. But most times durability always becomes something just annoying.
I'm happy to know Starbound won't have a durability system on items
Imagine how horrible it would be your armor is about to break in the middle of a cave system deep underground, and dying to respawn is not an option.

I just really hope the devs consider adding a player Line of Sight + Fog of War (probably wont but oh well...)

    Gretchen Void-Bound Voyager

nice! I saw this mentioned in the Steam news notes associated with the announcement that Terraria planned no further updates...then found this, now read this info thread, and I am really looking forward to this game.

  11. Alpha_Squad

    Alpha_Squad Cosmic Narwhal

It may be so, however I am talking about the initial false difficulty. That is to say, when the game is new and no one knows where the good planets are at then they have to randomly decide a 'coordinate' to go to and it isn't the players fault for choosing a high leveled planet as they did not know the consequence of their actions.

i understand your point and i agree that it would make things abit harder... but how can you play hardcore UNLESS there is a challenge? im all for the safty idea on NONE hardcore saves but if im playing a hardcore game i want it to be just that HARDCORE so whenever i go to a new planet i have to extra careful

basically i don't want Easy mode in my Hardcore ^-^

or at the very least they could make it optional for hardcore modes :D

  16. DarkDXZ

    DarkDXZ Phantasmal Quasar

    DarkDXZ's Hardcore Challenge (DHC):
    1.Start a new character.
    2.Go to lvl100-threat planet.
3.Go into its Dark World variation. (one of my ideas, check out Mechanics suggestions forum)
    4.???
    5.PROFIT!

I point this challenge at Yrimir in particular...

  17. Korruption

    Korruption Void-Bound Voyager

I'm curious what they mean by this. Do they mean short range "potions" that you can use on your friends? Long range weapons that use some sort of resource as healing? I understand long range healing being overpowered maybe, but if short range was the only possibility for healing, I doubt many people would take it on. I don't like getting hit while I heal. Hopefully these support/healing devices are medium-long ranged.

  18. Skippo

    Skippo Tentacle Wrangler

I went with the "too long, didn't read approach" dont know if i should go back and read it after what your post said..

"When you talk to an NPC, you may hear them speak with a "Sims-like" made up language."
