Lights!

Look, I'm pretty sure most of us have played Terraria, and if not might have seen pics/vids of it. I think we can all agree that torches sucked in that game. We already know there will be flashlights, but will we see lanterns or other sorts of hand held/place-able lights that have a strong illumination factor?
What do my fellow forumer's think? Do you have any idea's you would like to see implemented?

 

I saw a picture of Tiy standing on a dock with blue LED looking lights..... Just wanted to point that out that there may be different types of light sources.

 

Laser pointers. Then stand on a tree and watch all the animals try and catch it.

I've seen it too but I'm just wondering what type of lights people want to see and what they would like to avoid and such. xD

That would be so hilarious, or if it's something in director mode to make creatures attack certain people by pointing it at them!

 

I hope they have certain procedurally generated "Parts" of creatures / weapons that produce light. Like a gun that has a chance of having a "Flashlight addon" on it. Or an animal that has a bio-luminescent Thorax, or some other crap. Irradiated creatures that glow in the dark and stuff.

 

I'd like to see while your flying through space or floating, to have an asteroid flaming and creating a glow as it passes by your ship. I think that would be a really cool little addition.

 

There's also the cool lava lamps that give off light. And a light that hangs from the ceiling, moves back and forth(by itself), and flickers.

I want different colored bulbs/lens-things you can put in for different color flashlights and such.

 

That would be awesome. My hope right now is that there would be a bio-luminescent planet, PANDORA!!!!!!

He he, it should be a dragonov sniper rifle....

 

I may be wrong, but I believe it has been confirmed that you can make attachments for your gun such as laser pointers or flashlights.

 

dont they have pictures of the using torches?

 

I'm sure a wide variety of light sources will be available for players, I really wouldn't worry.

 

The lava lamps are cool.
Although to be fair, IRL lava lamps are cool...

 

This is not true! IRL lava lamps are HOT!

But yes, they're awesome anyway

 

There will be torches in Starbound, but you will be able to place them on the background walls.
