Light vs dark is silly. Dark is created by light casting shadows. In a battle between light and dark, light would instantly win. Elemental items should pertain to real things. Like fire weapons causing heat. I'm all for light and dark weapons, but not in the way your post suggests.
Well that just renders the whole darkbound suggestion pretty useless isn't it? And black holes too? Armour and blades so dark that not even light can escape from it's aura.
I am not exactly suggesting light vs. dark but I am just saying items pertaining to light and items pertaining to dark each with different types of effects
Darkbound is not dark. Last time I checked, it was a dark-themed virus, essentialy. Black holes exist. And that's not how light works. There is nothing "so dark" light doesn't escape. Things that light can't escape would be completely dark though, and thus invisible.
Exactly. And that's not the full suggestion, light and dark is as much a theme as it is effects. It's possible for armour or weapons to literally have an event horizon surrounding it, creating a dark aura that eliminates light, thus you have your dark character.
Light is electromagnetic radiation. To have such event horizon, to eliminate light, would be basically the same as having a black hole in your hand.
The problem being if you would probably also be in the event horizon, causing you to become spaghetti.
Well I'd assume that armour which is powerful enough to have it's own event horizon would be able to sustain it's own user.
All you need to make black hole armor is make it dense enough To contain a black hole is practically impossible.
Practically impossible. Well so is teleportation along with ships that can travel through the universe with our current understanding. Starbound has things that defy what we know considering that its a video game. Impossible is nothing.
Teleportation is possible. Ships that travel the universe is possible. Containing a black hole is not. This is the difference between Science fiction, and science fantasy.
Not with our current understanding, did I say it would always be impossible? Nope! Looking at it from a human perspective is the flaw in your argument. There's no way humans are the most advanced beings in the universe, for all we know everything we see has been planned and is that way until we're ready to see the rest. This all goes double for Starbound, fantasy is just science we have yet to understand. Bring technology back to the past and they'll call you a witch or a wizard! There's nothing against the possibility that there's a race so advanced and ancient that they can bend the rules of the universe.
No, looking at it from a human's perspective was the flaw in YOUR argument. Containing a black hole is impossible under the current theories of physics and everything. If we don't follow these theories we cannot say anything is possible. "Fantasy is just science we have yet to understand." That is magic. Fantasy is something that cannot happen. Fiction is something that has not happened. "There's nothing against the possibility that there's a race so advanced and ancient that they can bend the rules of the universe." No there isn't, admittedly. But there isn't anything to say exist either.
Exactly, neither of us is right! This suggestion could easily be put it, and there's also a possibility that there's already soemthing like it in-game.
"science fiction, the improbable made possible; fantasy, the impossible made probable" --Rod Serling Not really an exact definition, but I'd say that using black holes as personal weapons is a bit extreme. Actually making black holes practical for any purpose is very far-fetched, since the only thing that I think could contain one is space/time itself. If you had technology that powerful, you could just skip the black hole part and just use space/time as your weapon. Anyway, I do agree that dark versus light is silly. Light is stereotypically equated with good, most likely because black people were considered immoral and godless by their paler relatives to the north. Also, Human beings are naturally diurnal, so they are predisposed to be afraid of the dark by the process of evolution. Nocturnal creatures, on the other hand, are usually afraid of light for the same reason-- It makes it more difficult for them to see potential predators. As long as Light/Dark themed weapons are entirely NOT good/evil implied, I'd be very happy with them. My main beef with the Darkbound is that while they are not technically evil, they are so mindlessly expansionist that they may as well be. If the items are just designed to produce light/darkness effects visually, that's fine. In fact, I specifically suggested items that absorb light instead of radiating it. Basically like a negative torch.
Also... as far as teleporting things... They actually were able to teleport about .0000006 grams of a substance across the planet. Back in like 2007 I think. So... Teleportation is Possible.
