Level ups or similar?

    does this game have any of that? for skills or whatever? or is it Terraria style all the way?

    just wondering since i havent seen that anywhere,might have overlooked it.

    They have said (Don't know when but i KNOW they have, i'm sure of it) that "leveling up" means getting better equipment. So yes just like Terraria. And really, if you are unsure about anything just check the FAQ section. Blue even made an Megathread-thing-a-ma-bob about it.

    i dunno if its implemented, but i have always liked lvl´in systems, so i really do hope they implement it.

    Tiy stated in a random chat Q&A that the game progression is gear based and not skill/level/experience based. Your gear will increase in power over time. However, he did say that he is allowing support for party roles - specifically, gear can have +Healing and such on it. So we may even see class-type dynamics just using gear-based progression.

    I'll also add that the items aren't like in Terraria.
    They are more like the items in Borderlands.

    In Borderlands a gun usually has a randomized scope, barrel and clip and some other parts.
    For example one Revolver might have a blade on it while an another might have a sniper scope.
    One of them might have a horrible clip, the other might have exploding bullets!
    I've even seen shotguns that shoot rockets in Borderlands...

    It leads to a huge amount of different weapons with relatively little work because the same parts can be re-used in so many different weapons.

    While we don't know if the items in Starbound will vary as much as in Borderlands they'll still be very diverse!
    So it won't be just about getting "Hallowed weapons".
    It'll be more like Borderlands or Diablo 2 where you keep finding better ones.

    This. There WILL be as many variations as in Borderlands, if not MORE. Everyone wants to say this is just like Terraria, and it just isn't. Starbound is its own game, its own unique experience.

    You better be able to get melee weapons with scopes.

    Or kittens with sawblades and nails instead of claws and fangs, respectively.

    I hope it doesn't have a level up system I like in Terraria you were even with every one else it was just your equipment and the variety of equipment in this game makes it so it doesn't need a leveling up system.

    What about the creatures you can capture and tame? I think they hinted they will have some sort of level up system...not sure though.

    It really wouldn't be so necessary to put a leveling system in the game. When you reach max level, you feel like your at the top of the world... and then nothing, your game would be dead in a matter of time after attaining it. Just making different modifications for weapons and armor are enough to give the game variety and every weapon/armor a fair player choice. Some weapons I favored in Terraria for the way and technique that they are used was not enough to kill another player or monster in the desired time or even at all.
