Starting a new series of ships, staring the Avikan Race of the Elithian Race Mod. First ship design, a small shuttlecraft. Just a simple design, with small nacelles located under the ship to achieve FTL speeds and maneuvering thrusters, along with a crystalline shielding matrix. No armaments, but does carry standard personal weapon loadouts for crew. EDIT: The nacelles looked too large for the shuttle, so I fixed them. Looks much sleeker and faster now
Second ship is up for the Avikan. A transport shuttle. Similar to the shuttlecraft, this transport features larger nacelles with directional thrusters, maneuvering thrusters, and a modulating shield matrix unit. Armed with a laser cannon and 2 defense turrets, along with 8 marines with full weapon load outs... this shuttle is far more deadly than the standard model. It also comes equipped with crew quarters, bathroom amenities, galley, and power systems for light manufacturing and repairs.
This Avikan Ship is a technological hybrid between the Avian and Avikans. The Condor shield ship. The base ship is an upgraded Avikan tug that is usually used in the shipyards. Dual engines and shields along with an upgraded power plant have been added, in addition to a special attachment on the front. The Condor shield unit has adjustable front "wings" that project an energy shield from the front outwards around the ship. It can be linked to other ships or configured to fire an energy stream from the front that acts as a tractor beam. When used in groups, these ships are a strong defense against much larger ships. The distinct silhouette can be seen, even when powered down... Its the first of the Avikan larger spaceships. The Avikan Escort - The Avikan Escort provides protection for shipping and transports, along with point defense for larger formations. This fully capable spaceship has an unfueled up time of 6 months, strong armor and crystalline shields, a nuclear reactor core, and large nacelles. A crew of 7 is standard, with quarters provided for long term duties. Multiple Escorts have been known to take out cruisers much larger than them with accurate shots from the Disruptor Cannon. Escorts are always on patrol. The Escort now has a fleet ally with a punch... The Avikan LRM Frigate - The Avikan Long Range Missile Frigate gives the fleet a safe attack vessel in dealing with static defenses, buildings, mines and dangerous close range ships. Not as fast, powerful or maneuverable as the Escort, the LRM frigate trades in the costs of those features for an upgraded sensor suite, expanded cargo capacity and twin Long Range Missile bays. With an up time of 1 year and a manufacturing system for building missile armaments, this frigate offers excellent options to a fleet in need to reach out and touch the enemy. No range is too great for the Avikan LRM. O_O Wow, nice work guys! Those ships are awesome! I'm not a big fan of mods, but... After seeing such epic ships, I want to try too... So, what mods are you using to customize your ships? Are the blocks and the furniture from the same mod?
Well... I have 6 PAGES of mods installed... but you won't need that many for building these. Here is the rundown of what to search for in the mods section - Protectorate Themed Blocks - for some blocks Avali (Triage) Race mod - for consoles, furniture, blocks and parts Avali Colored Items Addon - for different colored versions of above Idle Miners - (For the reactor looking parts) Zero G maneuvering unit - if you are building in an asteroid field... it is invaluable. bk3k Blocks and Objects - for blocks and objects BYOS - build your own ship - for building a custom ship in the shipworld location. New tiles and Greebles - for tiles and greebles Base in a Box and Bodules in a box - for scanning and relocating your creations to different worlds. ( I build in an asteroid field, scan it, then redeploy it in my shipworld area for final polish ) Elithian Races Mod - for parts, blocks and items Frakin' Universe - for the universe, power, parts, You should just have this mod. Xbawks character extender - for using those race mods Extra Zoom levels - to zoom out for the screenshots of your ships. There. That's the abbreviated list. There is one mod missing... and that is my personal one I have been working on. That one adds the ship guns, details, parts and some blocks. I'm still working on it though, so it hasn't been released. I may alpha release it on the forums soon.... I hate coding recipes and discoverables

Based on what I have seen so far in these pictures they are all authentic space faring ships. The mod that SivCorp mentioned "B.Y.O.S." allows you to "Build Your Own Ship" block by block, instead of having the preset ships. (Also please do not spam the chat, it is against the forum rules.)
As Sparklink said, I use BYOS mod to make my own ships. I like BYOS because you can also still use the regular ships if you want with other characters. So yes, they are all legit ships that can fly and be used as your ship world. I simply BUILD them in an asteroid field first, because of the zero gravity for ease of building. I then use the mod "Base in a box" to scan and transfer that ship to my shipworld and re deploy it there. This is my shipyard (the bottom section of it, anyways) on an asteroid field. The wire system you see going across the screen is the scanning device. It starts to scan all objects on the bottom left and works over to the upper right node. Everything in that space is then stored in a deplorable object that you place anywhere else to rebuild what was scanned in. It is a life saver for builders. A must have in my opinion. Oh, and what you see being worked on is a much larger Nacelle engine for a much larger ship
That Nacelle design is completed. Here is the powered down state - Powered up and standing by with dampeners on - Fully powered with dampeners off - Of course, that is without the collector and plasma injectors on... need a reactor and ship for those features to be powered on. Now I'm going to have to make a ship for those engines.... which means my old shipyard is going to need an expansion More to come, stay tuned!
If you want to build directly into your shipworld, you could use admin commands to set your gravity to 0 Madtulip's spaceship mod also has support for zero-g outside your ship as well proper Oxygen/ventilation systems. (Though I don't use it myself, so I don't know all pros and drawbacks) I could also suggest getting a tech mod that reintroduces the old pre-1.0 techs (I use the Legacy Tech mod from the workshop), primarily the Targetted Blink Tech. It allows for very easy travel in zero-g environments. I've used it myself plenty to build all my bigger ships. Also stack enlargers and maybe the buildmode mod. I should get back to shipbuilding, I still have an experimental FTL cruiser to finish.
