...after my first guy got wiped and I discovered some music, one thing led to another, and well... Here she is, playing her own theme on her cramped little ship Sort of a combination decoration/storage thing, I like to lay the thing out like a studio apartment/workshop with a storage unit and cockpit tacked on. Oh, and it makes full use of the teleporter for waste disposal. *Updated 2013 12 21* ...finally made it to Sector X.

Take a guess as to what my ship is laid out for I'm not done yet. Once I get enough pixels, I'm printing enough of those lockers to fill every available block in that ship.
I use my ship much the same, but I quickly grew tired of almost falling. My primary interest in SB is logic gates and circuits. I've figured out how to space-efficiently implement AND gates, x0r gates, flip-latches, repeaters, etc. It's my logic lab, that I tug around servers - primarily, that one villager town. Great, mature TS community.
Doing research on self aware AI. I'm going to upgrade the glitch sometime.! It makes hospital sounds too making it really seem high tech keeping a machine, alive!
I made mine a mobile lab of sorts, with all crafting interfaces at my fingertips. I made it livable also, so my space-faring Glitch can get some rest in with his expiriments and collections.
Somehow I feel like you were inspired by Guns of Icarus Online... Mainly the fins... Anyway, I am going to edit my post with a picture, but my ship is basically going to be a host of sea creatures. Right now I have a Dolphin and Seahorse pretty much done.
Work in progress but getting there. Still have to add a multi-level engine room. Then I think I got everything. =) A bridge, observation deck, crew quarters, (engine room), engineering, transporter room, (un-allocated), galley, life support, cargo bay and airlock, large hydroponics section for those long voyages. No fancy bitmap background, though. My graphical skills are... you know... let's talk about something else! =)
No mod, you can do it all in paint if you so please, the structure is calculated through a picture of different colours, and the ship its self is just a png
Wow, so many amazing ships....I love what people can do when given just a small space to work with. Not to mention the custom/modded ships are incredible as well. o.o Here's what I did in my last solo run, tried to balance functionality with aesthetics. Got a medbay, lounge, workshop, storage bay and the bridge. I'm just a space hobo with no home but my ship xD
Sorry about the poor quality, steam and my XP don't work too well together. These are from the copy, paste, paint process. I use my ship for storage and found that the white lockers from the Apex labs work wonderfully since they stack!!! Be very careful though if one breaks the Entire stack of lockers breaks... I use them for decoration items... I preferred to use the Tech chests for my weapons, armor, ore, food. The chests inside of my ship cabin are for stims, health care, and coal. I really enjoy the little poops around, gotta class it up sometimes...
