I made some adjustments to my ship: Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 6.28.42 PM.png
First, the storage room, where I took out most of the lights and painted everything black (totally not goth)
    Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 6.29.14 PM.png

Then, I turned the top two rooms into a park, which I unsuccessfully tried to fill with trees. Screen Shot 2015-03-17 at 6.29.38 PM.png
Then I turned one of the crafting rooms into a sleeping room for the crew with a nice view of the Hylotl fish tank.

I also added in some side rooms in the medical bay, for the extremely sick/damaged patients.

    Then there's the control room.

    And finally, the cockpit/ bedroom.

Had already posted my ship, made a few changes but still work in progress. Won't deny the fact that I used admin mode for a few unusual items.

Edit: Ship got wiped for unknown reason but had an old backup, took the time to redesign a few rooms. Also decided to go back to a more cleaner look and slightly optimized the farm.

I had no idea you could expand your ship until now. :seriously: Nevertheless, here is my tiny ship:

One day she will grow as a flower sprouts from a seed!

    Edit 3/30/15: Stage two.

I think I mostly use my ships for decoration. Lots of impracticality, but oh so cozy. :megusta:

    Edit 4/2/15: Stage three.

Edit 4/16/15: Upgraded a while ago, finally finished decorating. :DD Along with a new cute Avian crew mate who has taken to copiloting the ship. Poor Glitch was accidentally brutally murdered, so she's been replaced. Human recruiter is still alive, he just really seems to love the outhouse in the cap'n's room even though he has his own toilet.

Thought I'd share the thing I built over the course of the last few days. This is a heavily-modded playthrough, incorporating (among others):
    • Munari Race Mod (this is the race my character is, and this is also the first time I've played SB since after they introduced the ship upgrades into vanilla... So I had no idea that the S3r1ous pack had Mad Tulip's, and that the custom race overrode it. Oh well, I never got the hang of it back then, anyways.)
    • S3r1ous Mod Pack
    • Maverick Hunters MMX
    • Frackin' Universe
    Behold: [IMG]

Shipwide, I have proximity sensors (floor or wall mounted, alternates depending on ability to place on the floor) to make almost all doors automatic (there's a few exceptions noted below). Wall of text below describes my theming/reasoning for the design choices I made. Out of courtesy, I reduced the font size to keep my post from being super big, so zoom in/copy to a word document or something if you want to read it without your eyes exploding:

    -Garden/Observation Deck
I was tempted to use this space 'productively', but when my Architect gave me the parts for a garden combined with its clear 'skylight', I figured that I was more or less finished with what my ship would be, and that any other facilities I missed from the many mods I have could be inserted into my (WIP) homebase planetside. Thus... a garden with a few shrubberies with a little path down the middle. The Bounty Station and Matter Assembler (I think those are what they are) in the p-way headed up to the Garden are mainly just put down so that I can use them, it wasn't out of any intent. More on those stations in a bit.
    -Secondary Teleporter (Compartment)
This was originally going to be my replacement CO Stateroom (and it follows the trend of most IRL warships where the CO lives near-ish the bridge), but I basically tried copying what I had going on in my original stateroom (in the aft belowdecks part of the ship) as soon as I unlocked it (my 'original', and also current, stateroom was unlocked a few ship levels ago, and I liked its formatting), but it's obviously a much smaller space. So instead, I stuck my Crew Outpost Teleporter in there (since I can't replace the default one), along with a few other odds and ends.
    -Bridge
I really liked the idea of sticking one of the neat little Lunar Base Bunks on the bridge, as it fit the theming overall and I like the idea of my little crew always having a person on the bridge, even if they're sleeping (a big no-no in RL navies, but... obviously this is different). First-Mate Love Jones is the obvious choice of crewmember to man this space, as he (/she, depending what the spawner decides to give me when I accidentally kill them) is my executive officer, and thus responsible for the ship when I'm down on the surface doing stuff. A couple Planetary Displays and Server Racks make it look like it's more functional than just a chair would.
    -Gunnery/CIC
The main justification I have for calling this the main Gunnery Station is the huge gun sticking out of it. But realistically, I had to stick my Hunter somewhere, and so it made sense (to me) to give them a weapon-themed room, full of guns and melee weapons (that's all that's in the lockers). Rentek's stations, on top of being functional, give the room a tech-y feel in accordance with it being a Combat Information Center, and heck, let's just say the MMX Mod stuff in there is the systems for my ship's main gun, yeah? The door is one of a few 'cool stuff with wiring' bits I did, as it's an And Gate -- the palm scanner MUST be active for the proximity switches to be able to trigger the door. I wanted to put one on the inside, too, but the locker gets in the way, and I don't feel like moving it right now. Besides, let's just say that it's a scan-once thing, and it's my duty armorer (the Hunter)'s job to secure the space when they're not actively in it.
    -Fabrication Facilities
Another 'themed' space to match my Architect's placement in the room, I have steadily added stuff in there until its primary reason for existence is spending and making pixels. The Pixel Goods Store kiosk is basically my made-to-order fabrication system (since I left my Tech Station, and thus 3D-Printer, in the p-way leading to the Bridge), and the Recycler, Pixel Compressor, and Refinery strengthen the concept.
    -Crew Berthing
Originally, the 6 racks (for my crew who don't have berthing elsewhere -- notice the number of racks vs. number of crew?) were stuffed into what became the Reactor Room, with little space to spare. Once I got that space through my final expansion, I quickly moved the bunks. Just like with the garden, it could be argued that a more purposeful design might be better, but my crew's gotta sleep somewhere :/
    -Mess Hall
It's actually the "Mess Deck", or "Messing", in true Navy parlance, but I stole the sign from a USCM base. Gotta make do with what ya got. My chef has everything he needs -- a cooking table, oven, and inspirational painting of Glitchespeare. Oh, and to polish off the RP effect, I added in a trash can and water cooler. Just makes it look that much more personalized.
    -CO's Stateroom
Besides changing its appearance every once in a while, I pretty much never go here ever (one of my mods has a back item that gives me regen). That said, I put it together to be as close a combination of cozy and functional as I would personally want a stateroom to be. Got myself a cool little computer, a lofted bed to take full advantage of vertical space, and my own Planetary Monitor screen so that (RP-wise) I can keep an eye on what's happening even when I'm racked out. It was one of the most "out of the way" spaces, and I didn't want to be the captain who hoarded a huge space all to himself... nor did I want through traffic. Only thing I'm disappointed with is that it's pretty much across the ship from the bridge, but them's the breaks.
    -Reactor Room
I got the static things (forget their name) from an Apex Lab, and thought, "These would make cool-looking power cores!" And so I did it. To add to the ambiance, we of course have the 'cores' cooped up in a glass enclosure (and, much to my surprise, I actually used the Hazard blocks ON PURPOSE), electrical warning signs, and DANGER posted right before you enter. My coolest little party trick for that room is that the warning lights only trigger on opening the door (which is manually opened, unlike almost every other door on the ship), both to simulate radiation leaking out... and because I really didn't want those things blaring every time I returned to the ship.
    -Crew Lounge
Initially, I had stuck the Arcade Machine in the above-bridge room... but alas, it was REALLY ANNOYING what with the beeping and all. So I stuck it in the back here, along with a couch, and called it my recreation area. Since I added the Mole Merchant, I have too many crew for my available racks, so let's just say the YSC Merchant sleeps in here (he plays video games too much anyway, judging by his 1337speak)
-Everything about the Main Hangar Bay and Associated Areas
I felt pretty good about what I did with this. With the Mechorations available, I of COURSE had to put them somwhere the instant I had a big-enough space for them. Then, I realized they weren't that tall, and decided to (like with my stateroom) take full advantage of the vertical space. So, using Outpost Walls to simulate internal bulkheads, I put together the construct you see here, then partitioned it off (it was originally a 'stacked' large space about equivalent to the Mechs') to give my crewmembers personal areas. Another little nifty trick, I've got an Or gate (which also plays nice as a little visual garnish) above the Mechs that is attached to the throw switches at either side. With both off, the lights in the hangar (but not in the top level, mind you) go off. Simple, but a neat RPing touch.
    -The Vault
Just needed a few more large pieces of storage. This was about the most compact I could make it while still making it look intentional.
    -E-War Station
The Scientist is a natural fit for a station all about scrambling enemy ships' sensors and preventing ECM from ruining our own. A couple tech-oriented stations dress it up for the role. Also of note is the two racks tucked into the server room just upstairs, which are occupied by my duty comms/electronics people.
    -Communications
I originally wanted to put the Bounty Hunter into Gunnery, but I unlocked the ship tier with this large space about when I got the BH. So instead, I crafted a new space. I like to think he/she is constantly on the horn with people, looking for targets for us to knock off. As a side note, I intent to expand this space one to the left so that I can fit the Bounty Station and still have room for the chair... a future goal.
    -Research Lab
Was originally going to be an armory-ish place, but with the Professor being one of my first acquisitions, and the main crafting area being one of the few ship compartments the T1 ship had, I just moved stuff about and left it as I built it waaaaaay back when I began the character. No, the Metalworks doesn't belong up there... but I had nowhere else, really, to put it, without it being out-of-place
    -Main Teleporter
I really want to move my Ship Locker over to the centerpoint... but once again, too much stuff.
    -Medical
Like with the Professor's space, the Doctor was one of the first NPCs I acquired, and so I decided to give him the compartment (one of the first I had unlocked through upgrades). It also gave an RP-ish reason to stick my Transformation Station in there (that's like, biology, right?)

My ship's coming along quite nicely, and I now have a crew of sorts. Oddly enough, here used to be two Florans in the brig...I wonder where the other went......actually, let's just not think too hard about that.

    Awktopode Void-Bound Voyager

Not my personal ship, strictly speaking, but a custom ship I designed that is exclusively on sale in the Orion Spur on the Orion's Edge RP server, the ASC-PEL14 and its two variants:
    _________________________________________________
    The ASC-PEL14 "Pelican"
Designed to be an incredibly versatile vessel, the ASC-PEL14 Pelican is what you want it to be. With an ample cargo hold which can be converted to any sort of living space imaginable, and top-of-the-line engines, your travels in "The Pelican" will be secure, speedy, and stylish. We are able to mount any attachment purchase from the Azimuth catalog to the bottom loadrails for FREE, and out of company attachments for a nominal fee.
    _________________________________________________
    The ASC-PEL14c "Pelican: Cargo Variant"

Offering all the same features as the ASC-PEL14, the PEL14c also comes with a pre-fitted and perfectly calibrated Clarke electromagnetic crane system, allowing you to safely tow and lift just about anything. The PEL14's Asimov N35 engines rotate to permit hovering and VTOL, allowing for smooth pick-up and drop-off while in any gravity system.
    _________________________________________________

    The ASC-PEL14t "Pelican: Turret Variant"
Offering all the same features as the ASC-PEL14, the PEL14t offers a pre-fitted and calibrated Sono-Hüntz LBC laser turret. With a full 180 degree hemisphere of free motion and our own target tracking program hardwired into the vessel, you'll have little to fear out on the Spur.

    FloomRide Cosmic Narwhal

    My latest, actually meaningful ship:
    2015-04-28_00009.jpg
Includes cockpit/bridge, main hallway, teleporter room, bedroom and arcade(machine), temporary cell/office, loading bay (for sending crates down to the planet via shuttle), and research room.

The S.S. Ssship works for the Grey Sun Alliance, as seen with the flag in the loading bay.

The S.S. Ssship is a colonization vessel, which means it is in charge of constructing and supplying colonies throughout the system it is stationed. The loading bay on board allows shuttles (when/if they get added) to transport supplies to and from the colonies. The air vents serve an important role in ensuring the safety of this operation.

Currently the S.S. Ssship is garrisoned in the Gamma Phonecious 360 system, as all Grey Sun vessels are.
