Let the music play

O...M...G!
As you see from 30th update, there is going to be instruments that you can play and furthermore you can compose them into text files, sync them up and form bands.

-What instrument are you going to play
-What music are you going to play
-Are you going to try and recreate the London Symphany Ochestras version of Star Wars
-anything else or ideas you want to add

Reminds me a bit of LotRO's music system, had some good fun with that, playing eye of the tiger on my lute while completely smashed (A wee bit too much ale mayhaps.)

EDIT: maybe I'm drunk atm, idk... anyway, I need to answer the questions.
1. The lute, and if not that, the harp.

This is indeed a very exciting idea. If used correctly, it could be a lot of fun and enrich the game's community.

If misused it could cause a lot of people to play the game in mute or to mute/ignore other players permanently.

 

I'd like to see them add an ocarina. Perhaps one that can control the weather...

I have played plenty of games that have offered custom theme or song options and have plenty of experience with reading and writing music.
But that isn't the best bit......

ABC notation is insanely easy to find, write or translate to, which means all those people who never had the knack for making tunes won't be off to the side playing woefully off key mono themes.
Everyone will be able to use it with ease.

I have already started translating the fully orchestrated Final Fantasy VII intro theme in to text. For now I am working on singular instruments just in case there are limits to the system.
Hope to see a full orchestra eventually
