Legendary weapons broken?

    While I was on a lvl 10 volcanic planet searching for metal trees I happened upon a chest with a legendary 2 handed sword, which looks badass, but the the stats are horrible 749 dps at 749 per swing. I haven't found a legendary weapon before so I'm just wondering if maybe I'm unlucky or do the stats for some 'legendary' weapons suck? The next chest I found on the same planet had a common one handed sword that had 1348 dps, something doesn't seem right to me. Anyways thanks for reading.

    They need rebalanced, as they are and as you stated.

    They are currently quite a bit less powerful (compared to other level 10 weapons).

    In my opinion they need more power, more speed, and better chance of elements.

    That and some unique status effect for using them, aka jump higher ... Or a little extra walking speed...

    One other thing would be nice would be shockwave ability for certain Legendary Weapons.


    Edit: I've noticed this a lot, the weapons you can craft are much stronger and that is fine, however they are not Legendary merely Uncommon which is ok, but what is the point of Legendary Weapons aside from the looks? They certainly need something to render them worthy of the legendary monster fights.

    One aspect about legendary weapons I've noticed, they all do something fancy that the damage stacks on. Even if it has less DPS or damage than your crafted weapon, there is usually some fancy effect that adds it's own damage (like the bubbles from the water sword).

    Yes, those effects are nice, however have you attempted hitting an enemy from the level 10 sector? It does not do very much damage compared to the others thus rendering it near to obsolete.

    Its a common misconception legendary weapons are always good.
    Legendary weapons in Starbound are so bad they became a legend for sucking :p

    Thanks for responding. The legendary sword I found, ended up trashing it due to full inventory while exploring, did almost nothing against lvl 10 monsters. My crafted 2 handed axe kills in two hits where as that sword did nothing but take a ton, not literally, of swings and had a really fancy effect that shot out of it and looked pretty. My thing is I saw the purple around the weapon, got excited, and then suffered from disappointment.

    By the time of this writing, after the newest patch, I made 1000 pancakes and went planet exploring hardcore. I found another legendary weapon an axe this time. Needless to say the patch didn't do anything for legendary weapons it seems. Still isn't as good as a crafted weapon.

    My take on the game, having gotten two characters to tier 10, I like it, Otherwise I wouldn't playing like I have no life, but it definitely needs better balancing, which hopefully will come in time.
