Legendary Broadsword dps test

Ok so I did some extensive testing with legendary broadswords.

Damage wise the only things worth mentioning were (at lvl 6+)
    Solus Katana
    Violium Broadsword
    Asuterosaberu dx.
    Protectors broadsword.

    Normal attacks
    Asutero>Solus=Violium>Protector charged>Protector uncharged.

    Special attacks
    Solus>>>Violium>>>Protector>=Asutero

Solus has exactly twice the damage of Violium since both do the same damage per hit and Solus hits 6 times max whereas Violium hits 3 times.

Protector's ranged slash wave hits for exactly the same dmg as solus or violium, but only hits once.

Asutero deals very small dmg but has zoning capability.

Overall, for targets that are large or has stationary patterns u can exploit, use solus. If the target moves around quickly, use violium, as you can cover a great deal of distance spinning, easily landing couple tics of dmg, equivalent to 1 of the three kunai strike to solus. Also Violium's special uses half the energy of solus, so these two are quite interchangeable depending on circumstances.

If you need zoning for some reason use Asutero.

The rest are not terribly worth it, unless you like the visual style. They are good weapons, dont get me wrong but are not exactly the "best" melee weapon in terms of their utility or dmg output.

Considering I have yet to get the Solus katana I found the DX sword had more DPS than volium(when using the Energy armor) and when using the protector's broadsword special(the enhancement ability) it had more damage compared to the DX.

Out of the three I rate DX the highest BASE damage while Protector's has the highest ENHANCED damage

What you said is true only for the Asutero, given that the weapons' levels are the same. For left clicks only, Asutero has the highest dmg per hit but is the slowest of the four.

Protectorate on the other hand has the lowest left click damage of the four even charged up, given that all 4 weapons are at the maximum level. (Btw weapon level for legendaries are not shown when you mouse over them)

I think you're mistaken on that "even charged up"...I did a damage check after I unlocked the broadsword; I was dealing 137 damage with the DX in the tier6 energy armor and when using protector's enhancement that damage went to 167 so I dont know how you say it's lower

Combining the Astral Tear and standard attacks with Asutero, I can beat Asra in one go at her without a Damage III augment. With the Protector's Broadsword, I need the augment.

It is most likely that your other swords, violium, asutero, solus, are of lower level than protectorate broadsword. If the item levels are same, protector's broadsword downright loses in damage per hit.

I dont see how thats possible considering they're unique weapons that have a set damage on them.

I just tested the damage again; Protector's Broadsword: 132 damage | 167 when enhanced
    DX: 145 damage
    Violium: 134

That's where you went wrong. Uniques do not have a set damage on them.
In fact, their damage changes with their level.

For instance, a level 10 violium broadsword will have 52.5 dmage per swing written there.
So as of current level cap, which is 6, protector's broadsword does marginally more damage as you said.
But the weapon scaling for protector broadsword is very very poor.
At level 10 Violium Broadsword, with a full T6m set will deal 240-ish damage to an unarmored enemy, whereas protector's broadsword, even when energy charged, will deal aroun 198.

So as I said in the op, for level 6+, protector's broadsword is by far the worst of the above mentioned weapons, in both left-click/special-attacks.

How do you get a level 10 violium broadsword ??? (in survival i mean)

As of right now, unless you spawn the item with console, or use mods, it is not possible.
But because there are already 10 levels of a weapon, it is very much possible that in future updates, higher-tier armors (tier 6+) be released.
    Hence, this testing.

Ok, I already have t10 weapons that i got from moon colony tenants, but i would totally pick a t10 violium broadsword instead. It is not only good for killing things, it gives you so much mobility.

But see you're adding in extra variables. You're using tier 10 versions of the weapons while i'm using legitimately found or story gotten versions of the weapons. and as I said I am using the energy based tier 6 armor which the damage multiplier is different.

I'm not sure why my points are not really getting across to you.

For testing I spawned 6,7,8,9,10 tier weapons for each of the weapons mentioned above.
At tier 8, the protectorate broadsword becomes strictly worse than any of the other 3 weapons mentioned.

At tier 6,7 protectorate broadsword will do more damage/swing if infused with energy.
However, that damage difference of roughly 25 against unarmored enemies becomes negligible, against any enemies that can even remotely damage you, as they will have armor, making the effective damage difference less than 10.

Now, that was just talking about the normal left-click.

If we get into the special attacks, protector's broadsword's special is by far the worst of the 4.
Just to be clear, none of the other broadswords comes even remotely close to the damage of solus katana's special attack. It is flat out the best melee in the game in terms of sheer damage, given that you hit at least 2 out of three projectiles it shoots. So, solus katana is out of the question when we talk about dps. Additionally it is an AOE attack. So I'm just going to say it is by far the best, given that you learn to land the projectiles.

Protector's broadsword's special provide a little bit more left-click damage, a energy wave that's mid-ranged and very low in terms of damage.
Violium Broadsword's special provides great mobility, up to 3 hits for larger enemies, like bosses.
Asuterosaberu DX provides damage over time for stationary targets as well as zoning.

It seems pretty clear to me that even at level 6, which is my character's actual gear, protector's broadsword is rather underwhelming compared to the other 3.
And after level8, it is pareto inferior to the rest.

    P.S.

Also, damage multipliers don't matter. Like the name suggests, it is "multiplicative" hence the percentage difference in damage will remain the same regardless of the multiplier.
