leaky houses in thunderstorms

There is a difference in regular and heavy rain. I've seen both types in the worlds I have explored. Heavy rain usually has lighting flashes every so often it seems. The regular rain doesn't make water pools.

It is distressing though that heavy rain can come through hanging items in a thin roof. Then again I usually make roofs thicker and ledgy; overhang. At least there are some temporary things you can do till things get tuned in that area. I actually like watching heavy rain mingle with the acid pools... I haven't seen acid rain to what heavy rain does thankfully. So I don't even know if that happens, as that would be even more problematic than water....

oh no i hear you, and i have mentioned the rain thing as a bug in larger builds as well this was more because i was wondering if it was an issue with the server i was on or if this was something everyone was getting. I absolutely love starbound and both simultaneously eager/ bummed with the final character wipe coming later this week. bummed cause i'm going to lose my characters whom i've grown fond of. excited because it means i should be able to make some real progress once it's done ^_^

I was kinda in awe the first time I saw the water puddling up and filling holes. I've seen it in mods of other games, of course... But I haven't touched this game with a mod, and there it was, filling up holes and being cool as hell. Lol

If your roof is off screen, rain will appear on your screen.
I do have a few ways to counter flooding in the game,
    1. Build underground, <means below the ground layer where there are default background blocks>
    2. Remove a tiny wall section <one block will do>, if there isnt a background when you do this the water will drain out.

oh i know about the back wall trick... problem is the knocking down of my fireplace items and stuff
the water will drain but the drop still causes the items to "break" or "be un-placed"

yes and no.... As I mentioned in my post above, it is the stormy rain that floods, not the normal rain. There are 2 types of rain. I guess one is light rain and the other heavy rain, the stormy one.

so yes 1 of them do.

That's really neat that the weather even causes flooding.

If your house has rain going through it's roof, add another layer of blocks to the roof, that's what I did and it worked.

I found out about the water collecting when my farm flooded. I have wooden fence along the back and a wooden fence gate at the end. The water started collecting in my farm! I was like WTH!!?? I went and opened the gate and the water drained out of my farm! From then on I just left the gate open because it rains constantly on my home planet :/

one thing you can do for your crops is a small drain. water does not collect on wooden platforms(or any platform you can drop through) so you can make a little one block wide hole and shove a plank in there with a drainage area below. this is a quick and dirty example, but you should be able to see what i mean.

I did that and it worked at first yet it happened again to me. I found that if I add a layer of no bricks within my roof design it acts like a gutter and prevents my roof from leaking. My current home I tested this on is subterranean.

I'd bug you for necroing but this is still a problem in the game lol. I really would like them to resolve this problem with the game engine.

If the roof is off screen the game treats it like there is not roof, so more layers doesn't really solve the issue.

which leads to , stop building big stuff....so they did not even fixed this issue, strange.

Or build big stuff with lower ceilings, and keep your fireplace on the ground floor.
They aught to make falling weather always spawn on the edge of space, so that it won't be as annoying.

but with a lower celling its not big :)
i had this issue in the past too where i wanted to create a underground prison...yes it even rained in while i was several blocks underground which was quiet annoying.
i hope that they will fix the issue at least when its fully released.
