Late summer still likely?

There has always been lots of discussion on the release date of the game, and the devs would always say "Late summer." Obviously the game is looking fantastic and is already well along the way, but with the lack of recent development updates and teasers, It's already July. I can't help but wonder:
Is the game still estimated at "late summer"?

 

I still wonder if they mean "summer" as in the vacation or the season?
Do you know?

 

They have said many times that they have changed the planned date to holidays/end-of-year. I doubt it will be end of summer, because thats just 1-2 months away.
No I can't give proof that they changed the planned date, but there are a lot of people who have seen them say it.

 

Then again the release date just says "When its done"

 

I highly doubt it. Summer's almost over, there would be a trailer or release date.
And the reason they don't update us on info that much is because: The more time spent updating is the less time spent working on the game itself.
We'll all know when they give a release date

I can't find where it's mentioned but I do remember seeing it being mentioned.

Darn, I thought Summer as in the season. Because that would be great if it was... If it were the holidays, I'm not sure if I can be patient.

 

They did mean summer as in the season. They changed it to holidays/end-of-year.

 

Many are vehemently suggesting that it will be a winter release. My own depressing predilections say summer of next year, but that's just me.

 

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Starbound indeed will be released around the end of the year.

 

I'll be super happy when it is released, but I can still be patient. It's not like the worlds gonna end.... oh wait, never-mind.... or is it? wait, no tats outrageous!

It's what Tiy's been telling people in IRC, and I know for a fact the game isn't going to be ready by the end of the summer (given that it's already July). They're working on some really neat things right now though. Q4 2012 sounds like a good estimate.

Whats "Q4"

 

We're most likely to get Starbound beta after the summer and open beta / full release in the holidays or in early 2013.

 

I'm gonna lock this thread up now-- the question has been answered. No need to keep answering it.

Not sure where you're getting all that. They're currently aiming to release the game by the end of the year, but a closed beta has not been scheduled and and open beta certainly has not been confirmed.

"Q4" means fourth quarter, as in fourth quarter of 2012. So, winter.
